G'day guys,
I know there's a few Starship Troopers etc. pages out there, but Derek was
just wandering about how to deal with bugs in games. I got him 55 DS sized
bugs as a part of Christmas present and he's finally got them painted up. So
he was wandering about how you guys think they should be treated in the game
and how they should be based (individually vs in groups) etc. Aside from
starship trooper type things, he can vaguely remember an article in the
"Journal of Traveller's Aid Society" (forgets what number it was) which
involved a medium to low tech army fending off a horde of "giant bugs" -
remembers an illustration of a Sheridan look-alike tank being overrun by
giant insect-type creatures - does this ring any bells (and are they
good
ones?)?
Thanks in advance,
Beth

Your thinking of the Chamax. They were also written up in the double module
"Chamax Plague". Gives a great premise for encountering the bugs.

Look for the Double Adventure "Chamax Plague / Horde". Nasty bugs.

Appologies for the slow reply, this due to having to dig around in the loft.
The JTAS Article is called "Hunting Bugs, Striker and Chamax Plague /
Horde" and was in number 17. There were several nasty things about bugs,
one was that there were lots of them. Another was that their acid attacks
were cumalative over time - the longer they stayed in melee the more
damage they did. Oh and radio signals act as an attractor. They ignore morale
but always act on instinct heading for the nearest food source be it a scenery
or your troops. The technology of the world where they caused trouble was
quite low at Traveller Tech level 6 (about WWII).
