Subject: [SG] counters

I've created some counters for StarGrunt, and I'd like to get some feedback:
do I a) put unit ID numbers on the counters (so you can keep track of which
platoon a squad belongs to and can be reactivated by, how many IAVRs used etc)
and use a separate counter to keep track of the squad manpower; b) use unit
IDs and just track the squad strength on a log sheet;
c) create weaker units and substitute them as they lose men--eg my IF
squad starts off with 11 men x FP2, so do I make FP22, FP20, FP18 etc versions
and just make change as needed? But if you do that you either have a huge
counter sheet or you can't have the squad ID numbers; or d) do something else
that hasnt occurred to me yet?

I like the ID numbers on the counters idea.

I've been toying with a similar idea although some what different and
expanded. These I'm "thinking" of using for 15mm stuff. The idea is movement
trays with magnets on them troops are mounted on metal washers and the unit
chits permanently affixed to the tray rear along with other relevant info. As
the units that I use are fairly standardized this should not be a major
problem, just need a means to show activation etc.

The one thing I came up with that might work was do the trays in sheet metal
and chits and troops with that adhesive magnetic strips on them. I would still
color code or some how put a unit I.D. on them. I also plan to put the same
terrain on the trays as on the troops bases leaving the rear portion free for
the chits and unit data etc.

Still a bit of a raw idea at this point.

This is part of a nefarious plot to lure the local ASL players over to SG, per
the thread we had a couple of weeks ago. Yes, the counters would be squads,
not individuals (except for Independent Figures, of course). It's
also intended as a way to have company-sized actions without taking up
as much space (or time) as a normal SG game would require
