OK, I finally got the zip drive working with my parent's computer (mine is
packed up in transit to Ft. Hood) and I found a couple of things that might be
of interest to the group.

1) Who was it was running a quote page? I started a quote file of my own, and
got it up to 17 pages before a disk drive failure (you could shake it and hear
parts rattling around inside) wiped it out. I've rebuilt it partially, but I
havn't added the Fehrenbach quotes back in (impulsively gave my copy of This
Kind of War to my idiot brother as a birthday
present). If you're interested, e-mail me off-list.

2) I'm a Traveller geek. And as such, I've been buying the GURPS: Traveller
stuff religiously (shudder) just for the wealth of background data. One of the
niftier items in this compilation is a glossary of both technical and slang
terms used by military forces of the Traveller universe. I've combed through
it, along with the library data in various T:TNE and CT books, to produce a
fairly interesting listing, discarding those terms which aren't relevant to
the GZGverse and adding some of my own. Anyone interested in what I've got?

3) I've totally revamped and refitted the NRE fleet, as well as rewritten the
fleet listing. I'll be getting it up and on the web page as soon as possible.
Watch for the K-varients to some of the ships--those
are the NRE's modifications to ships under construction in 2183 which
incorporate a number of
anti-Kra'Vak modifications.

That's a pretty damn impressive feat of reverse engineering and
prescience, considering that humanity had no wreckage to study -
indeed, not even positive proof that the Kra'Vak were aliens - until
2184...

How did the NRE manage to adapt to a threat, and copy technology, that no
human didn't even know existed at the time? Divine intervention? <g>

If they tell you that someone on the list will have to kill you.

No, I don't believe in "them" and what's more I wouldn't admit it if I did.
There are no conspiracies. <bg>

There's a *reason* they're still hanging onto that banner of Our Lady for
nearly 2000 years

John, I've got the SF & Miltary Quotes page on my site. Haven't added to it in
ages, but I've got a huge update of the whole site coming next month when I
finally get an internet connection at home... Send anything you want on to me,
and I'll add it to the page when it's updated!

That's an open invitation, by the way - anyone who has a quote that they
think should be included on my page is welcome to drop me an email.

That's the result of not explaining myself fully.

The only ship I've really done the K-varient for is
the St.John the Apostle, a Superdreadnought which was laid down in late 2183.
With a number of K'V contacts which went off badly for the Empire, and
intelligence gathered from other nations which had even more contacts, some
basic characteristics of the K'V weapons systems were deduced by late 2184.
With a dreadnought still on the ways (approaching completion), it was decided
to put together a refit
program to attempt to counter-balance the K'V's
advantages. This involves [Censored] So it's a pretty extensive rebuild that
delays completion until
mid-2185.

I'm planning on field-testing the St. JtA this week
and I'll post the specs at the time of the AAR.
