The MRE is like the M-16.  It got a really bad reputation because of
problems with the first generation. Now a lot of the kinks are worked out, and
the menus are diversifying and improving greatly. I like MREs, most of 'em.
The tuna, anything with eggs, and scalloped potatoes aren't edible, and the
chicken with rice is not too good
either.  But a lot of them--ham slice, grilled chicken breast, and beef
frankfurters to name my favorite three--are really, really good.  Beats
some of the stuff I've been served in some mess halls.
