all-

I'm interested in scratchbuilding some ships and SSDs to go with, based
loosely around something I was originally calling 'infection' ships, but seem
to have found a better name in something I found on Firedrake: devourer.

I'm still wrangling with actual justifications and
whatnot for drive-types, 'weapons', etc. I really like
the idea of the 'Parasite' pods suggested by Beth Fulton, and am trying to
imagine how that might work for these critters.

suggestions as to other 'slightly off-standard' stuff
that I might throw into these things, or should I concentrate on the
'Devourer' model proposed at Firedrake?

the images so far, still VERY unfinished and in uncooked Sculpey.

G'day,

I'm probably being thick here but is there a link or a bit more of a hint? Do
you mean the archives?

Thanks

It sure sounds like he's talking about something Noam said a few years back:

Though, perhaps nudged into Noam's mind by:

*blush*

Sorry, Noam.

Still, I'd missed the devourers idea; it reminds me of one I'd had, though
much simpler, based simply on some cheap plastic Xmas decorations I'd
picked up in the mid-90's.

Some elongated 'bulbs', in gold, silver, and a sparkly 'ice' paint job, and
some icicles also sparkly. As the inch-long bulbs reminded me of the
pencil
ships in some sci-fi, I figured those would be two nations at war, and
the icicles would be a third player 'space beast'.

Imagine the first two players' surprise when the icicle started 'infecting'
their ships. Couldn't decided if the sparkly ships would be
dead-in-space
until a delayed transformation into icicles, or fight as regular ships until
same. Either way, you wanted to nuke 'em, as they could only infect AFTER
becoming icicles.

Course, back then, I thought it was toooooo silly an idea to bring up to
the group... ;->=

Least, I THINK I refrained.

Well I'm no Vac head, but those look excedingly sexy to me!

Look forward to seeing the finished products. They look a bit Vorlon (B5) to
me, which is no bad thing.
