Here's my pass at Salvo Launched Antiship Missiles (SLAM)
for FT/MT:

Mass:4 Cost:25 Range:40" ARC: from 9 o'clock to 3'oclock (180 degrees fwd)

Damage: Each battery rolls d6. Whatever number rolled is how many SUBMUNITION
dice you roll. For instance: you fire one SLAM and roll a
4. You then roll 4 die. On a 1-3 a miss, 4-5 one point, 6 two points.
If target has ECM subtract 1 from number of hits die roll. Total all batteries
fired at target by ship. target ship rolls 1 die per
ADAF/PDAF committed to missile defense. subtract defensive rolls from
offensive number of hits. remaining hits are rolled for damage as usual.
Shields have no effect. Armor makes 5 one point, 6 two points
for grade 1. 5-6= one point for grade 2.

The salvo's seem to be a bit powerful for the mass/range being used.
Limiting the range to 12" would alleviate this somewhat (no-one would
use beam weapons with those ranges & mass). Do you really want to be shot with
6 die SubPacs at 40" range every turn?
Also, it would be best to stick to the standard fire arcs (P/F/S), maybe
allowing additional arcs to be purchased.

I'm presuming the *DAF fire uses antifighter values against the salvos?

NO, the *DAFs are a straight die roll against the salvos read on the face. A 4
reduces salvo density by 4 die. This helps counterbalance the relatively low
mass of the system. Also ECM reduces Salvo
densities. I am interested in a long range Anime-style system where
players can use the missiles to tie up the PDAFS of the targets while fighters
move in...

A 4 die Unopposed SLAM missile salvo will do an average of 14 dice rolls

for an average damage of 9-10 points this is at a cost of 16 mass.
Any PDAFs used will degrade this appreciably and make ADAF fleet support
vessels worth their weight in gold. In addition with ECM being used to degrade
the salvos, it gives a real tactical reason to use ECM in it's various forms.
For that matter, maybe buying sensor systems can be used to counter enemy
ECM...

Jon, thoughts?

Haven't had any time to play with this or think much about it. Not up on my
anime, either, so if you're trying to replicate that, I'm a poor
resource to call upon. :-/

But as an overall tactical weapon I still have the original msgs and will try
to play with 'em some here at some point.
