In order to cut down on the workload for Jon I think I mentioned that person
would have to have some official standing and it would also be a good idea for
that person to have access to Jon. Somehow I don't think anyone would be happy
with my rulings, nor should they. GZG must have tournament judges.

Barring all that, how about just a bigger, more complete FAQ handling some of
the more obvious rule holes?

How about you submit official questions to me as I run Jon's web site then I
could compile them all together say on a weekly or monthly basis and pass them
to Jon or a nominee, after which I could post the responses to the catalogue
site for all.

What do you think Jon?

Laserlight had it right. You didn't volunteer to ANSWER the questions; only to
COMPILE them... No need for any "official standing" to do that.

First of all, though I like playing FT, and have bought a fair number of ships
and rulebooks, I have no obligation to correct it's problems, even the ones I
point out.

Secondly, in order to make it work, the person doing the compiling has to be
able to do some of the work. Such a person would have to know Jon and
intercept some questions he already knows have been answered by Jon or ruled
on at a tournament so that by the time Jon looks them over, they're probably
already right. I think this is a job for someone in the UK. If GZG has any
employees other than Jon, they might be a better choice.

Third, I just don't have the time. If I took this on, I'd have to give up
actually playing full thrust and that would be somewhat counterproductive.

But thanks for the job offer anyway ;-)

Hmmm...

How about you send any official requests to me as I do the online catalogue,
then I can filter out any repeat requests etc, and pass the rest on to Jon,
when the response arrive I could upload them to the catalogue site for all to
see.

Is why I included the "keep track of the List's responses" to my workflow
list.

This is why no one else has volunteered, either... ;-)
Well, that's not exactly true. There are some masochists on the Test List who
debate about things for upcoming projects (at the expense of having a Life),
so to some extent, there *are* people who are compiling questions, testing
answers, and submitting them to Jon.

But the point of yanking your chain with that workflow list I posted was so
you'd notice the "Play the game, not the rules" part. It's probably impossible
to clarify every little detail; if it is possible it would greatly increasing
the pice of the books *or* be available only due to some
self-sacrificing hero who puts it on the Web, and the latter doesn't
help those who don't have Web access (or don't know where to look). Meanwhile,
all you can do is hope your opponents have some maturity to them.
