OK, I'm still working through the stats for my Vietnam-era SGII
scenario. I was wondering what stats you'd give to the RPG-2? I was
thinking of SFP d4 and Impact d12. This seems to mesh well with the M113 stats
we were discussing. Outside of the first two range bands, it becomes unlikely
that you'll score a major success. But if a major success occurs, there is a
good chance that you can hurt an M113, and it is even possible to destroy it
with one hit.

I'd be more inclined to go with D6 Firepower and D10 Impact doubled for major!
Also consider restricting use to one Range band too! Green troops 60m,
Regulars 80m Veterans 100m etc....This is the weapons Maximum Effective Range;
just like 5 Range bands is a Small Arms Maximum Effective Range in standard
Stargrunt.

OK, considered that the RPG-2 is most likely going to be employed
within the first range band. In the hands of regular troops, the RPG-2
will hit most of the time at this range. But it seems like it would get a
major hit just a bit too often. The d10 impact is probably not a bad idea.

OK, but I have a manual that states that the RPG-2 had three
sighting holes: one for 50m, 100m, and 150m. It also states that the
RPG-2 has the same tactical value of the M72 LAW, which has an effective
anti-armor range of 200m. I was thinking of restricting to two range
bands.

Once I get this scenario ready, I'm going to upload most of the data to my GZG
scenario discussion group. I won't upload the squad data, since that would be
giving intel to the players that they just wouldn't have, but the weapons and
vehicles stats will be there. Thanks again.

Works for me! The beauty of brainstorming an idea! Wish more people on the
list would do this!

Two range bands gives Greens 120m, Regulars 160m and Veterans 200m.

Vietnam gaming really does have a flavour of its own! You should really put
this up on the web when you're finished!

I for one would be very interested in seeing the end result and any rules
you've used for platoon level command control and how you handle the VC and
NVA.

Good luck,

My scenario, "Ambush and Nhi Vinh," pits two platoons against each other. The
VC set the ambush and the first turn is when the American stumble into it.
Until I "retire" this scenario, I'll keep the force structures and a few
scenario mechanics a secret. However, I'll make no attempt to hide the fact
that the VC team will have a difficult time with transferring actions.
