Hi people!

A while ago I asked about anyone in the US who may be taping the Starship
Troopers animated series, and if they would be willing to make copies to send
to an Australian who would like to see the series (and probably wont on TV in
his home country).

Is there _anyone_ over there that would help?

Important question: Does Australia use NTSC or PAL format? US uses NTSC, which
is incompatible with the PAL format.

(Australia uses PAL format, as does the UK. Does Roughnecks show in the
UK?)

Yea, I'm willing to help you out. Only problem is that I just started watching
(and taping) the show on Tuesday.

Now, when I get tapes to one of you over there can you convert it to PAL

and send it on to everyone else?

And can anyone over there convert PAL back to NTSC? I'll GLADLY trade tapes if
anyone can get me a copy of Star Cops in NTSC.

A while ago, people mentioned they were watching/taping this animated
series based on Starship Troopers.

If it's been rotated through all its episodes by now, would the people who
were taping it please put their hands up so I may contact them (or contact me
directly).

I'd like to get copies so I can see this series here in Oz. There's no sign of
it on our screens.:(

There still has been no complete rotation of teheseries. SO I keep the tape
running every day even though it's opnly once a week or so that something new
comes out. BTW someone has also been posting the episodes to teh net as MPGs
though they're 250mb each. Kr'rt can post the link. hint hint.

PAL is the standard, however many people in the know have VCRs and TVs that
can handle NTSC because sometimes, even the best stuff doesn't reach our
shores.:(

actually run better becasue of the darkness. Bugs, you

Any news on when the second and third episode may be posted?:)

Be advised that not all the episodes have been released in the proper order
(In fact most weren't) and some may still be outstanding from the producers.
There has been littel rhyme or reason as to how they show up on the local
station.

I guess that I am totally confused.

Your answer doesn't explain how one accesses the "roughneck archive".

And I do have a yahoo email account...

You have to sign up for the space. This is a bit sucky IMHO, but I guess they
want to promote business.

If you don't want it, don't use the space.:)

I agree on with you on their policy.

They must not actually allocate it until it is used?

What format are the videos in? Where can I find the player? (if needed)

They're in ASF format, which is new to me, however Windows Media Player
appears to handle it quite well.

The thing that really pisses me off is freespace's download system. It sucks,
period. I have Getright and always prefer to download files (especially BIG
files like these ones) through it, so I have full resume capabilities.
Freespace however has this dicky "Download manager" that is just.. so.. sad.

I did find a way around it but unfortunately, it was by mistake and I don't
remember how I did it.:)

Sorry for the confusion. Their site is not the most user-friendly I
have seen.

OK, you have to register with them. Following this link:

http://www.freediskspace.com/Folders/315705/

The registration is off to the right. Use Leviticus' referral code of
U00037693. That way he gets credit and gets more space to use.:)

Once you get through the registration, hit the link again.
Now, on the left side of that page is your log-in area.
Use your name and password in the first two entry fields and the Folder
password of ROUGHNECKS.

After further inspection, it looks like you don't have to sign up for the
300meg free space. That is done by going through an online survey. Simply
registering your user name will get you access to the shared folder.

As for their clunky downloading, well, hey, it's free...

The shows that I have are in ASF format. Windows Media Player shows it. (But
fast forwarding is not as easy as with MPG formats)

There ya go....

One question, what is.asf format? I've never seen it before, can my usual
program (Windows Media Player) recognize it? If not, where do I have to go to
get a program to play it? Sorry for showing my ignorance, but I'm very
interested in seeing these, as there is no way I'm getting them down
