Someone was talking about calling people to recover road kill. Out here, the
Jungle Telegraph is faster than the cops. Woman hit a deer about 10 miles from
my place. Before the cops had arrived on scene (someone had stopped to see how
she and her husband were doing in their written off mini van and called), a
car pulled up. Someone hopped out, made a phone call, and minutes later a 4x4
pulled up, some guys hopped out, tossed the carcas in the 4x4, and presto,
disappearing venison! By the time the cops arrived, the deer was long long
gone. No messy cleanup.
Of course, some animals you'd want to avoid touching for fear of various
lovely viral or bacterial infections, but deer (unless there is a warning
otherwise) are pretty safe and deer meat is good, as are moose and bear, if
you like flavour (they're all pretty strong).

Now, if I hit the moose in my _work_ vehicle, then the
moose looses. Probably almost as bad as my CO's HMMWV
did last week. 51 tons beats 2 1/2 tons. And steel
beats fiberglass.

51 Tons? Are you an M60 CEV driver now? I had you figured for one of the M113
bound guys that plays with MCLCs and such....
Hmm, maybe you'll know this, what's a good military trailer that will support
a 4 ton load? I've looked at an M796 but it's too heavy in the tare weight
class and is really an 8 ton trailer (4 tons off road, 8 tons on). I ask as
I'm looking at putting together a transporter for the ferret and dingo that
will have an Isuzu FTR truck configured to look like one of the new fancy
FMTVs. It will make a nicer over the road transporter than an M35 or M54 would
for long trips to Pa from Ga.

came within 8 inches of my end connectors.

Nope. First, it was the M728, second it's out of the inventory. Actually I
drive an M60A1 AVLB.
I had you

I was up until about a month ago. You see, it's the same MOS and they rotate
people from the line to A&O regularly.

I have no idea. My trailer experience is limited to
single-axle cargo trailers of the M-105 variety.
Can't carry an armored car in one.
