Can damage control parties repair hull and/or armour?

We were just discussing Trek style ships, and repairing armour would be a good
simulation of shields, then the discussion turned to the fact that I don't
remember
seeing a rule about not repairing hull/armour.

Shield/armour would be interesting. It only appears at "RED" alert
status. Perhaps using critical hit rolls to regenerate one box at a
time, and maybe vanishing if/when the power core fails.

Nope. Page 6 of More Thrust: "...Note that Damage Control parties may NOT
attempt to repair structural hull damage..."

I believe this is intended to extend to armour, also.

G'day Roger,

As you know by now, not officially, but (there's always a but) my son Lachy
picked up his first FT fleet when we were on holidays - the Sa'Vasku
however we all agreed the book keeping they normally involve is a beyond him
at 5 so we gave them more 'standard' stats (bear with me this getting
somewhere). Anyway he still wanted them to have an alien feel so we upped the
cost of his hull to 2x and said that he can attempt to repair one hull box a
turn, in the damage control phase, just as if the hull box was a normal
system. I think somebody somewhere did something similar in an FT conversion
of EFSB or B5 wars or something. Might give you some food for thought at
least.

Cheers

Beth

One viable option for this which I mentioned previously (there's several
different takes on this):

FTFB armour is treated as the ship's shields. Screen generators don't affect
beam fire, but regenerate the shields at 1 point per generator. One thing
about this is you can keep the trek feel of it (Shields down to
20%,
captain, and the engine room is offline!). The only problem is how to use
ablative armour (the USS Defiant has changed some of the ST ship rules)
