I recently ordered a few Kryomek blisters from them. I placed the order in
late July, had my credit card billed on August 5th and didn't hear from them
for two or more weeks and had no response to either messages left on their
answering machine or e-mail. When I sent an e-mail threatening to
cancel the credit card charges if I hadn't heard from them by a given
deadline,
I finally got a response and shortly thereafter received my figures. I also
got a few whiney responses that they are no longer a full time business and
fill orders on the weekend, blah blah blah.
I was not impressed. I wouldn't recommend them.

I gather they got hit pretty badly when West End lost the Star Trek license
(and did they finally go under?) - Simtac did all their casting, so that
was a giant chunk of their business that suddenly dried up on them. They had
to
let all their full-time employees go, and are trying to make a go of
things
working part-time. They also had to move out of their old warehouse.

You could try Scotia, they still produce and sell the Kryomek stuff. I last
saw them in april at Salute in London. They didn't look like they were closing
out inventory, but they were in the process of a merger or product line
reorganisation or something, so they might have a new name by now. Check for
their address on the Miniatures Page.

And if you hear anything more about that name change, let me know.

Will do, if and when I see them at a show, or when I feel like ordering some
more goodies from them. For now I have too much unpainted stuff as it is. The
story of our lives...

For the UK, Scotia (who are also Kryomek, just to confuse things) have stopped
doing shows themselves, but have engaged a couple of chaps to do
the shows for them - so you'll still find a Scotia/Kryomek stand at some
of the shows, but it is actually an independent outfit selling stuff for
S/K.
I think Robbie from Scotia is too busy with the castle he's bought to make the
long trek southwards from the frozen reaches of Scotland!
Scotia are still going, and still supply all their stuff mailorder -
their recent ads indicate ALL overseas mailorders to their Scottish address,
implying that Simtac are no longer the licensee for the US (logical as
Simtac appears to have shrunk to a small part-time operation, as noted
in earlier posts).
> Scotia are still going, and still supply all their stuff mailorder -
I checked this out as best I could. Simtac says their contracts with Scotia
are still in force. Scotia claims the advertisements that left out Simtac's
address were "printer's errors."

No, no, no. The correct phrase is 'I have almost enough unpainted stuff now,
just a few more pieces and that will be enough'.
