Hi Warren,

People have mentioned Rich Shelly's DMC (Dirigent Mercenary Corps) series
"Officer Cadet", "Lieutenant", etc.

He has a bunch of other books in the same genre:

Holding the Line Until Relieved Side Show Jump Pay The Buchanan Campaign The
Fires of Coventry Return to Camerein

All of these take place in the same universe as the DMC series, though IIRC
the DMC books occur much earlier in the timeline. I think they're all done by
"Ace Books" of New York.

Good basic sci-fi war stories.

I don't think the "Lucky 13th" series (Jump Pay, Until Relieved, etc.) is set
in the same universe as the DMC books are; if it is, it's certainly even
farther in the future than the other series.
