Subject: Questions: Submuntions and Scatterguns

Hello All,

I'm a tad confused about some rules concerning Scattergun and Submunitions.
For starters, I dug this up from my copy of the Full Thrust
FAQ...

> Full Thrust FAQ

What's a scatter pack? Is that a Submunition pack or some other system. I
doubt it's a Scattergun because today, when I was reading my copy of More
Thrust I observed something about the Scattergun that I had missed before.

The Scattergun has a 360 degree arc. The direction the symbol points in
doesn't indicate it's fire arc. It's on a turret.

I'm not going to get into "gee, this should be changed" mode yet because I
haven't studied the rules enough to do so and I'm not sure I want to anyway.

The Scattergun has anti-fighter capabilities... I'm assuming that means
it also has anti-missile capabilities as well. It is afterall a shotgun
spread. Six mass of these could therefore stop six incoming missiles, right?

Opinions, comments... good recipes;)

Pete

A Submunition Pack is from Full Thrust, and is basically a preloaded Rocket
Pod which fires a scatter of unguided rockets at the target (and hence the
scatter pack reference). A direct equivalent would be the
early 50's jet fighters/intercepters which carried unguided rocket packs
to mass fire at enemy bombers. F-94 Starfires, F-89 Scorpions, some
models of the F-86 Sabre, and an assortment of others.

The Scattergun is from More Thrust, and is a Kr'vak short range "shotgun"
weapon, and by definition are turret mounted, having a 360 degree firing arc.

It's a submunition pack. Scatterpack is a Dirtside weapon, and the author must
have been confused. Subbies get one arc of fire. This is implicit in the table
of weapon symbols on p30.
