Ok, I may regret it when the bill comes but I did it. I just ordered
the Kra'Vax Dirtside and 15mm Stargrunt deals. I already have a 45+
ship Full Thrust fleet. Now I have some questions. 1) I have no idea how to
paint the tanks. Doing a standard camo scheme
seems to be an insult to the new overlords of earth. Are there any examples of
panted Kra'Vak tanks anywhere on the net so I can get some ideas, or any camo
patterns that would work for them? 2) Were can I get some 15mm tanks that will
fit into a Kra'Vak force? 3) There was talk a month of so ago there was talk
about an iridescent pant. I can't find the manufacturer name in my saved
email. Where can I get it? 4) Do I treat the riding beast as cavalry or as
transports? Do the Kra'Vak dismount to fight or fight mounted? 5) Ok Jon,
sorry about this, but I need to add my voice to the chorus. When are we going
to get "Bugs Don't Serf"?
Ok, I think that's all I need to know for now. Thank you all for encouraging
my insanity.

If I were going to paint KV tanks, I would think about a purple base coat with
pink splotches like a giraffe. Add lime color speckles or markings.

Delta Ceramcoat has a Sparkling Glaze, which I found at Michael's. Haven't
gotten around to trying it yet.

Yes. :-)

Dunno, you tell us.

So, all Bugs are aristocrats? Or just democratic? Abolitionists, certainly...?
Sorry... the Narns know where I live, I'm sure. If Laserlight can spare them,
that is...:>
On an actually useful note, if/when I get an FT K'V squadron, I'd
thought of doing them in dark green & dark purple disruption 'space camo'.
That
scheme might be usuable as camo on a roughly Earth-equiv world, too,
while still looking pretty alien.
I'm not sure about 15mm KV vehicles - most of the 15mm stuff out there
is pretty standard looking, and Jon hasn't started 15mm vehicles yet.

Probably uusually dismounting to fight, but capable of executing a mounted
charge when the situation calls for it. See Aussie Light Horse of WWI,
Polish/Roumanian/Russian/German cavalry of WWII, the
Phillipine Scouts, or any US cavalry from any time period. Actually fighting
from mounts in a set piece battle went out with the issuing of useful rifles
to all units.
Or they may be small units of scouts used for long range recon patrols or just
scouts for light infantry units. The Rhodesians and South Africans operated
units of this nature which were fairly sucessful.

I understand Northern Alliance troops had a successful mounted charge vs
Taliban tanks a couple of months ago. I didn't see a whole lot of details on
that, but I suspect that the lines of sight were pretty short and the tanks
were probably lacking infantry escort. Of course, anybody can kill a tank that
doesn't have infantry support.

I also have a feeling that US air support and the general incompetence of
Taliban armored troops has something to do with it as well. These are
basically
theology students--no real training (militarily
speaking). They can operate an AK because, well, anyone can operate an AK. But
tanks are slightly more complex.
