Hello All,
For those of you who are following the Power Projection campaign, Part 6 has
just been added, along with the ssds for The Ships Of Power Projection. In
fact, there has been a bit of a general overhaul of the whole site.
http://www.innotts.co.uk/~paulradford/ft/index.html
Also, for those who know me from Gencon UK etc, I won't be attending this year
and thus won't be organising a tournament i'm afraid. I'm not sure if
my co-host, list regular, Charles Taylor will be running anything. I'd
like to say i'll be at Colours, Warfare, and Bifrost 2001, but at this point,
I can't guarantee those either:(
Cheers,

Well, unfortunately, the group that provide support me my & Paul's games,
Eurolog, won't be going either (as an organisation), There's a possibility
than someone else will be running something (Estuvium I think).
I'll be there, anyway.
Eurolog have their own convention, Battlemasters, at Leicester
University in April 2002, where I _will_ be running something, with any
luck it won't clash with Salute next year.
Does anyone know if Power Prjection (either Escorts or the upcoming Fleets)
have rules for ship construction?
Many thanks,

Escort does not.
Fleet will have the rules to convert Ships from Traveller High Guard stats to
Power Projection SSDs.

As I'm writing it I hope I do ;-)
Power Projection: Fleet will have ship conversion rules rather than design
rules.
To produce the actual original designs you will need High Guard 2nd Edition
(which is usually less than 5 quid second hand and also available in FarFuture
Enterprises' Reprint 'The Classic Books'), MegaTraveller Referee's Manual or
Traveller T20, the current d20
edition. Alternatively, software such as Andrew Moffatt-Vallance's High
Guard Shipyard (sadly Windows only) will also design High Guard format ships.
You can take any of these designs and convert to Power Projection format very
quickly, and yes, I do intend to put a ship bits file on the website once
Fleet is out.
We didn't want to put HG rule into Fleet because of space constraints and also
copyright concerns. Also, we didn't want to reinvent the wheel as HG pretty
much defines Traveller starship operations for me and others.
If anyone has any designs they really like for HG that are sub 10,000 dT and
without spinals, I'm happy to take a shot at converting and
hosting them on the PowerProjection.net - this is all dependent upon my
time, obviously. A large influx would make it less likely ;-/
I'm also willing to host scenarios etc...
Cheers,
Ah yes, thanks for all the answers guys. This is going on my "Must Buy" list.

(Best get back to writing it then!)

And what about GURPS:Traveller, or does it use a different design system?

GURPS Traveller uses a derivative of GURPS Vehicles IIRC. This is (1) American
Units and (2) not in any way directly compatible to High Guard (for example,
accelerations >6G are possible). Power Projection doesn't
convert to GURPS Traveller - sorry.
If someone develops a conversion of GT to High Guard I'll happily host it. My
own website has HG to T4 which can be reverse engineered to run backwards and
for TNE.

I just asked because I would need one of the Traveller design books. On the
other hand, I found High Guard at:

The text seems pretty comprehensive, so maybe there is no need to buy
anything.
As far as the D20 version is concerned, you will need a "core book", but if I
remember correctly there is an open source version somewhere on the WotC
website.

You're correct about the WotC site. However, you don't need the core d20 book
if you only want to design ships.
> I just asked because I would need one of the Traveller design books.
The open source stuff on the WotC website is for the core mechanics of the
RPG, and they have two versions, one for the D20 "modern" game, and one for
the D20 "fantasy" game (D&D).
They have NO open source campaign/genre specific material, except what
comes with the D&D stuff (which is very little - mostly spell names,
monster stuff, etc).
So, if you want the core mechanics for stuff like psionics, skills, character
creation, combat, etc., for the RPG, you can get it from WotC
-
but that won't include any changes that the Traveller publishers included. T20
isn't a WotC product, afterall.
If you want specific Traveller material from the d20 version (they call
T20... I have it kicking around here someplace), and/or stuff like space
ship designs, etc., you have to get the book or find someone who has put it
online illegally....

Well, they Quik Link is promising to publish a T20 Player's Handbook that will
have the stand alone rules for the game. Not sure when it's going to come out
though.

I have (previously to this coming on the list) queried the legality of the
above site site with Marc Miller. I've been informed that the site owner has
come to an agreement with Marc to maintain it.
So, if you have Explorer you could just snag the whole thing. One of the
reasons I keep Explorer on my Mac when Safari is so much better
(but doesn't do web archives :-/ ). With that, and with Power
Projection: Fleet, you'd be able to design your own ships.
Cheers,
So is there an appropriate forum for discussing PP?
Anyone know what happened to the book statting out GZG minis for PP?
Anyone have a better method forr determining hull boxes? A 100 KdT ship has
100 hull, a 150 KdT ship has 75. A bit broken.
Just for the record I like FT much better than PP. However, I am also a
Traveller GM. I hate High Guard combat.
