I guess I have to ask - Effective for what? Multi-role? Vacuum combat?

Specialist vehicles in a mixed arms organization? I find point systems
are inherently unbalanced no matter what they are set up to do since the
scenarios can unbalance a system where balance is defined as 'line them up and
shoot until one side is dead...' even if that system is internally coherent
and "balanced" for that.

The Holy Grail of war games - balamnced points systems...

Very good points by both gentlemen. I suppose to be truly balanced all the
time, you'd need a different set of points values and equations for every
aspect of design for every scenario.
