Subject: Planet with 28-hour(!) orbit
Hello everybody The search for planets around other stars continues at a quick pace. The ESO has announced the discovery of a planet with an 28 hour(!) orbit. It is a gas giant with half the mass of Jupiter. Here's a summary http://www.astronomy.com/Content/Dynamic/Articles/000/000/001/301tseyt.a sp For the hardcore enthusiast, the official announcement of the observatory: http://www.eso.org/outreach/press-rel/pr-2003/pr-09-03.html and the scientific paper: http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/astro-ph/pdf/0303/0303183.pdf Another instance where nature is stranger than fiction.
