I should be reading the new FB2 book, but that won't happen until Colours in
september. Sigh:-)
I am trying to come up with a new entry for the GZGPedia, and I have definite
ideas of where to place this new corporation: rimwards of the Royal Dutch
Commonwealth, deep into the unknown.
The starmaps I have seen sofar only show the Kravak, not the Phalon and the
Sa'Vasku. It would be unfortunate if I have placed my corporation right in the
path of one of those two races. However, I don't want to cheat and adapt to
this new info, I'll just have to do some creative writing to get around this
minor problem... So, would somebody please spill the beans on where these
races appear?
Thanks,

Well, the Phalon background page is the missing one... ;-)
But the first encounter was with the FSE, so that might be a clue.
As for the Sa'Vasku, IMO they have a much larger but more dispersed empire.
That would fit with their greater age and the implication that they were aware
of Humanity, Kra'Vak and Phalons before those three races met each other. So
the Sa'Vasku can appear anywhere they like. (Perhaps their jump drives have
greater range?)
Astronomy help requested.
I am far out of the loop on astronomy, so please bare with me. Last I heard,
the Milky Way is a spiral galaxy and we are somwhere on one of the "arms". My
question is... Are we deep within the arm or close to the surface?
Looking at the map, it is easy to (again) forget about the 3rd dimention. The
Sa'Vasku could be closer to the surface of the arm or closer to the core of
the arm. In this case, they would be attacking the most shallow or the most
elevated systems on the map (i.e. comming from below or above). Thier
controled area is likely to be larger than that covered by humanity
and/or
Kra'Vak.

Yes. And the "plate" of the galaxy that the arms are in is about 1000 light
years thick. Sol is about 50 light years "above" the galactic plane which is

So the Zhodani are about 500 Parsecs coreward and spinward.

G'day Frits,

Phalon space contacts human and Kra'Vak spheres of influence and they've have
already had a few run ins with the later. Mind you, in almost
Pratchett-like requirement for multidimensional map twisting, that
should
put them around about 'under'/'over' human space wouldn't it, so they
can have first contact with the FSE and contact Kra'Vak space too... either
that or its "we're surrounded boys!!!";)
Hope that helps
