All,
I have just brought a load of DSII minis and I was wondering what other paints
are available in the uk other than Games Workshop paints for minis.
As Goblin Green doesn't immediately come to mind as a good colour for military
camo.
Also has anyone got some pictures on their web pages as i seek some
inspiration.
Thanks

I usually use Humbrol enamels (available at any good model shop). Personally I
have never used the GW paints, even on GW minis.

I admit I do use the GW stuff as well as colour party acrylics and stuff in
tubes from the local art shop, tamiya also do a good range of military
colours.

Go to a toy or -better- to a plastic modelling shop and check out the
modelling paints there. They should have suitable ranges of enamel or acrylic
paints.

I have recently discovered Vallejo Paints (as I finally got fed up with the
Citadel Paint Pots). I recommend them highly. The pigment is very fine; it
covers well even after significant thinning; and they have the largest range
of colors I've ever seen (both geared to military and fantasy tastes).

Actually, in the past the GW paints weren't to bad in the past, apart
from the naming scheme! (and price) :-)
But I wouldn't recommend them now, at least in part because their
new-style pots tend to weld shut :-(

GW has acceptable paints. The current series is a lot better than the old
"spatter" caps. But its still named after fantasy themes. And, like
all of the mini hobby lines, GW acrylics are no better - but more
expensive - than real artists acrylics. Any reputable art supply store
(and probably a lot of college bookstores) has a goodly selection of acrylic
paint.

I can whole heartly second this recommendation. The Vallejo line has an
incredible range of colors, some of the best formulas and coverage I've ever
has the pleasure to put to use and the paint containers have a dropper style
top so you can use shaking to mix them without having to deal with paint in
the threads of the lid and container.
Now I pretty much use only Vallejo and Delta Creamcoat.

I couldn't agree more. I switched from Humbrol acrylics to Vallejo, and I love
the paint. Great stuff, covers well, mixes well, doesn't smell... What more
could one want?
Their range of paints is fantastic, even if it did result in me spending an
arm and a leg on a broad range of colours;)
Cheers,
