I like to convert my own vehicles for gaming use. With all you Stargrunters
excited about 15mm, would any of you know what scale models most closely
resemble 15mm? Is that like 1/72, 1/60, etc.?

Tricky stuff, that; wars have been fought over scales, as well as by...
;->=

Originally, 1/72 was 25mm, then between not being able to see tops of
heads
and the uncommon-ness of 6 ft folk historically, and figs being measured
from toe-to-eye, 1/72 started moving to 20mm. Or 25mm started moving to
1/64, your choice.

May I suggest The Miniatures Page for info:

Good luck! Fortunately, sci-fi vehicles have enough leeway that you just
have to go with what looks right. A recently acquired MechWarrior drop ship
will probably do duty in all scales from Evil Empire's(tm) gawdawfulbig down
to DSII(albeit as a monster transport)...

The consensus seems to be that 15mm is nominally 1/100th. The nearest
vehicle kits to that scale are Roco's 1/87th minitanks (although these
are true kits in that they consist of a small number of parts and come
assembled) which a number of listers have converted for use (including
me, before I started making my own 15mm). Alternatively, 1/76th or
1/72nd vehicles offer a huge range of possibilities - metal 15mm figures

look fine up against these scales.

Not to throw a spanner in the works but I recently bought some OOP 'true'
15 mm figures (15 mm to top of head/hat/beret/helmet) and I have a pack
of 15 mm UNSC I hope to covert to "M-i-i-i-i-c-e in Space" (add tail,
the snout helmet fits a mouse face, they might do as GM (Genetically Modified)
Martian Mouse stock next to a 28mm Stan Johansen Mekpur (feline) figure.) Lots
of difference between 15 mm figure lines (almost as much as 25 mm I suspect as
the recent talk of Eureka's "18 mm is 15
mm" Mex-Am war figures on another list has shown.) Take some figures to
a local shop and visually compare. Heck it's a problem in 6 mm too H&R figures
next to an Irregular 8 wheeled APC ("Yep, Ace, the whole Freaking
Company rides in one vehicle I bet!") [Okay, a L_i_t_t_l_e
exaggerated...but you get my point, no?]

But surely that wouldn't be a problem, as he'd be using GZG's 15mm
figures _exclusively_ .... ? ;-)

Well, yeah, that would work. <grin>

Peter Pig and other manufacturers of modern stuff mention 1:100.

25mm can be anything from 1/72 to 1/32, if you take heroic 25/28mm
into account, which can be up to 40mm:-)

Roco Minitanks (1/87th) and some 1/72 WW-II (Hasagawa Chafee) kits are a
good for conversions. You can also use Hot Wheels or 15mm metal (Old Glory,
Battle Honors).
