For those who are interested in this kind of thing, Britain has apparently
awarded the first Victoria Cross to a living recipient since 1965.
The award was earned by a Warrior AFV driver. Strategypage.com has the
citation, at

A very dramatic story. Shows you why the people who earn this kind of
recognition *deserve* every ounce of the respect they get.
Wow, Well deserved award!

There some more interesting game related news on that site. Change to the
American Recon section due to UAVs and more data, etc.

Wish I hadn't gone there: nasty pop up that blew through my blocker, then
wouldn't clear with J/JS disabled.
So much for 'Safe Mode'...

Sorry about that. I should have said something in my first post. I keep JS
turned off in my browser (well, set to "ask me first") so it doesn't bother
me...
My bad.
Having said that, the site does have a bunch of interesting stuff, photos,
etc., for wargamers.

Not at all; tis a weirdness too common to notice. And it IS a site stuffed
with nifty things.
I also keep JS turned off, which weirded me out that the popup occurred at all
with the browser's pop blocker enabled. The 'Close' button is a JS command, so
I couldn't even close it to look at the page.
I was just afraid you were going to tell me to re-enable JS. ;->=

Ouch, sorry about that. Firefox handled them with aplomb.

On a simillar note, the US Army's first Medal of Honor has been awarded to SFC
Paul R. Smith, a Combat Engineer platoon sergeant with the 11th Engineer
Batallion.

Kinda makes you wish for the days of old Rome... at least then if their heroes
waited years for an award or honor, it was for a statue or something similar.
Nowadays, the best these deserving heroes will get is a small slab in DC's
garden of the fallen.... or a maybe a statue that honors a group... or a wall
with their names on it... You'd think that with our advancement of killing the
living, we'd advance in our way of honoring the dead....
