I'd include the rather amazing MPEG, but it's
3/4 of a meg and I'm on dialup (and that'd be
bad form for the list). Save to say, it shows a fighter emerge trailing clouds
of gas from the water nose first, fire rockets or afterburners, and go
vertical. Quite extrordinairy.
Potential Pilots take note: I have no idea how
they plan to _recover_ the plane launched thus
because there doesn't seem to be a landing
strip....
And what's next? The air force having C-5s drop
out PBRs using a LAPES? Someone who came up with these concepts has been hit
with one of those infamous $150 hammers one time too many.... (but I'll bet
there was a big contract for someone's riding in this!)

Are you sure someone didn't get their dates wrong?
It's not April 1...
I searched the web and can find no reference to a "SSN Palsutton". Are we sure
this is not a joke?

Go the URL that someone else posted and you'll discover what it is.:)
Then go for a wander around strategypage.com - they have some
fascinating information.
I suggest anyone who's never actually been in one and needs sobering up about
warfare go to the gallery and check out the stills of the "Russian APV
runs into a little trouble" and remember - it really happened, it ain't
a movie.
And also check out the T-72 vs Javelin series. Woah.

Hmm... why I am I thinking 'Skydiver', I wonder if Gerry Anderson has a
patent on this one :-)
What next I wonder - Intercontinental vector thrust V/STOL with _large_
cargo module?

I was sure the sub launched MPEG was the one from the strategypage. Some great
humor there plus those 'demonstrative' images mentioned above... A nice place
to hit weekly. Right after Larrry Leadhead.
Her's one for the 'don't try this at home' category

A most amusing fake, too. Rather well done.
