Anyone want to comment on the quality, size and numbers of the miniatures in
the Twilight Armada box from Fantasy Flight Games for their Twilight Imperium
game.

I'm sure you'll get a better description, but the best I can come up with is,
think Games Master series. Like Axis and Allies, or Fortress America, large
number of small, simple, shiny plastic, pieces, in six colors, representing
(big 'I think') mines, ships (3 kinds?), fighters, and bases.

For my thinking, great for a strategic game, bit funky for table top. If
you're planning on painting, these will require all the tricks for soft
plastic.

I saw the pieces when first displayed at GenCon, but thought the $30 was too
high. I know I'd pick it up if I found it on deep discount, though.

I did indicate you need to take the above with several large grains of
salt, right? ;->=

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but if you can find it cheap, the
ships from the Fading Suns: Noble Armada set aren't bad. It comes with 16
ships (two each of eight different types). They're roughly comparable in size
to a frigate
or destroyer-sized ship for FT, and have quite a bit of variety to their
styles. I personally use them as merchant ships and/or system defense
cruisers. The boxed set retails for $50, but if you can find it cheaper, it's
worth it (got mine in a closeout sale for $20)

I'm not sure which boxed set your talking about, since I've only seen the
boxed set that is in my possession. It is titled Noble Armada Dreadnoughts:
Imperial Decados.

The two dreadnoughts enclosed, IMHO are good dreadnought sized vessels. It
also has four 'Landers' which you could probably class as about Light Cruiser
sized.

BTW - Since when is discussing space miniatures Off Topic?

See my note; the box you have is an expansion/add-on to the original
boxed
game, Nobel Armada, which is the space combat expansion/add-on to the
RPG, Faded Suns.

Well, the list is 'Ground Zero Games', but Jon's the first to say use what
you will with his rules, including what-you-will rules. ;->=

Ergo, the saint part.

I have a set of Twilight Armada Miniatures. They are not very good figs and
are not worth using in Full Thrust or Twilight Imperium. Don't waste your
money.
