I feel like rumor central here after the Battlefleet Gothic demo day and then
AOG's release dates but here is one more space game news update!
The long rumored 'Deal' for the rights to the game Star Fleet Battles seems to
be finally done according to well placed informants on the net. Task Force
Games has signed over their publishing rights to Amarillo Design Bureau (who
do all the design work of SFB). This means reprints of old material and new
material may be published later this year. ADB has not produced any new SFB
material for the last couple of years since TFG had not paid them for prior
material.
Yes, SFB is the antithesis of FT but this could mean new miniatures!
Hopefully they will do a better job and re-sculpt them (yeah, right)

And at the same time fire anyone who has ever been responsible for the artwork
associated with SFB (the most atrocious SF artwork I have _ever_ seen!

I remember playing the *first* SFB, in the little
zip-lock bag, with 12 whole starships to play with,
Sid's Game Fun Index:
1. Fun is inversely proportional to the square of the number of pages in the
rule book.
2. The number of pages of rules grows at a logarithmic scale to the popularity
of the game.

Ha!....Seriously, I do not think they will ever resculpt the mini's, because
they will be too busy rewritting and republishing the rules every other
year...
Allowing the ADB back into SFB is a BAD idea...
Just some thoughts. Donald Hosford

When wasn't it a bad idea?

Or has that already been done? Repeatedly?

I think I may have some of the posts - its also in the acrhive
if you search for SFB

Will you try a "power allowcation system" Yes I know it would make the game
take longer... How about this: Assume the ships have enough power to run
everything, and have a decent speed (low to middlen) and only do power
allowcation when the power plant gets damaged...

PA just doesn't map to the FT conceptual framework.

Ahhh this will be Interesting! I have allways wanted to play SFB
ships with NO power shortages! 8D
Ooo! Ooo! I get it! I get it! We will get to play FT using SFB
SSDs!
Ya know, this brings up a thought....we could use the SFB ship design book to
build the ships, and then FT to play them.
Even if it did, it would still be faster than a SFB campaign...(or is that
campain?) <g>
