Cool aerospace news: Burt Rutan's SpaceShip One made it over 100km altitude
early this morning in Mojave, California!
Very cool - this isn't a XPrize shot - there weren't enough people in
the
plane - but we're getting closer.
www.scaled.com is Rutan's website, there's a few photos that I think are from
today's shot, but I don't have time to check now (work sucks...).
This one is very cool:

The first private astronaut exists now - lucky bastard!

HUZAH!!!
Actually I think this does count as an official X-prize shot, although
they're apparently not going to try for a second shot right now. The
X-prize specifies that the craft has to have room for 3 people, not that
they actually have to be aboard (although equivalent mass does have to
be).
This was discussed earlier today at TMP.

Actually I believe it doesn't count as an X-prize shot because the
equivalent mass wasn't aboard.
Which would actually make sense since I heard after I wrote that that the
"plan" is to inspect the space ship and evaluate the effects of the flight,
then do the double launch in August.
