Yes and no. Mark Seifert's comments about chainmail "undergarments" at GenCon evoke a negative reaction. But the new game releases... I prefer smaller conventions. That way I can beat up Tom Barclay in multiple events. [quoted original message omitted]

Chainmail "undergarments" at GenCon? I miss all the fun stuff..... ;-) Then again, maybe there were some of these floating around ECC III..... So, what conventions on the East Coast (Preferrably very close to central PA) have games for GZG systems? Or should I keep pining away for ECC IV? Personally, I was wearing chainmail panties the whole time.

Check out the following cons:
MonCon, Tinton Fall, NJ <http://gameconvention.com/moncon/index.html> 31
Mar
- 2 Apr 2000 (30 Mar - 1 Apr 2001?)
Lots of sci-fi gaming. I'm not sure if there's any GZG planned for
next year, but we could always run something.
Shorecon, Cherry Hill NJ <http://gameconvention.com/shorecon/index.html>
29
Sep - 1 Oct 2000
Lots more sci-fi gaming. I'm not running any GZG events this year,
but I may next year. BTW, I'll be running 2 different Star Trek RPG (TOS)
scenarios, a tank minis game, a Vietnam skirmish game, an 8-hour Men in
Black LARP, and the traditional Battle Masters at midnight campaign.
Philcon, Philadelphia, PA <http://www.philcon.org/> 17-19 Nov 2000
They haven't sent the forms yet, but I'm planning on running SG2, DS2,
and FT/FB at the convention. I may even playtest "Carnage con Queso"
and "Fool Me Once."

I looked at the website once, and didn't really see a lot of games. Looks like more are cropping up. And I wouldn't mind getting in on another FT/FB game. I'll definitely have to look further at this. And perhaps I can talk my wife into taking the bellydancing classes....... :-) How many others on the list attend these cons? > -Mike

However, they have been actively seeking GMs for this convention. So far the con has been going well. I've run my first two FT games and I've
got two more Saturday evening. Before that I plan on doing a little more
shopping and get in a game of Heavy Gear, Gear Krieg, or Lightning Strike.
Everyone is having fun. Allen, Dean, Mike M., Schoon, Doug, et al. have been

I was able to play my first game of GK yesterday. It plays just like
Heavy Gear. If your expecting high-octane mecha combat, don't. The
walkers at this stage of the game are clunky, lightly armed, and will go BOOM
very easily. If weren't expecting to see Nazi "kamphers" do back flips while
disgorging a hail of auto cannon fire ala HG, then it's
fantastic. The storyline is very pulp sci-fi (I didn't know that Tesla
sold directed energy weapons to the French for the Maginot Line.) with lots of
wild technology, but it doesn't go too far over the top.
I wasn't able to get in that game of LS. So sad. However, Robert Dubouis at
the DP9 both was able to get me a fantastic deal on new HG and JC figs this
afternoon. Five bucks (American) a pop if I bought more than one. I loaded up
on Vindicators and Strike Jaguars.
Humorous DP9 at GenCon story: I was watching a pick-up game of
Heavy Gear between two teams made up of DP9 and Agents of Gaming employees.
During the course of the game, this drop dead gorgeous woman in a silky loin
cloth and not much else comes walking into the miniatures area. The game
suddenly stops as all eyes (including my own) start to track this beauty
through the hall. The game progresses for a few seconds more until it ceases
again so we could watch the women make her way out.
After this lovely apparition left, a DP9 employee was quoted as saying "I love
GenCon!"

The claim is that DP9's miniatures are "eco-friendly", hence made of resin. And I quote, "This product is cast in plastic resin to meet the requirements of removing lead from our environment". Some how chemically produced resin doesn't sound any friendlier than lead (pewter). I guess we'll never really know until enough wargamers get rid of their miniatures collections by burying them in the back yard. > Ground Zero Games wrote: > Corey wrote, in response to my question about the DP9 JC ships...
