And has anyone managed to TAPE it all, so that some of us from the OU can see
it?:)

Los, you are my hero.:)
Not only do you write great stories (Rot Hafen rocks), not only are you a
person who has "been there, done that", not only that but... you can work a
VCR.
Truly, a genius.:)
Hi All,
Sorry for the off topic clutter, but I got back from London a few days ago
and can't seem to find Starship Troopers- Roughneck Chronicles anywhere!
It
looks like Sci-fi pulled it off the air. Anyone out there know what
channels the show is on now? Thanks!
Guys I am taping it. I have three tapes full at this point. The porblem is
this.
It comes on every day Mon-Fri but they only add about one new episode a
week
(maybe) so there is a wild-assed amount of reruns, plus they show them
in weird orders. That being said I have no probelms watching every episode
over and over becuase it's so well done. Let me finish this last tapes worth
and I'll see about duping some copies, one to UK and one to OU.

Basically there was a huge mixup between the 2 companies doing the show and
scifi channel. Take a look at AICN's archives for a big story on it.

I can't find it anywhere, and I live in the states. Is there a national cable
channel carrying it? If not Los, will you dub a third tape for your less
fortunate American compadres?

Actually it has some basis. Many professional astronomers couldn't
point out the constellations for you, much less know which con-
stellation is which ("Big Dipper? I'm more interested in LTT 5721
at coords 14 29 42 by -62 40 46!"*)

VCR's are easy (especially with videoplus) you should try my digital heating
controller, thats hard.

Unless the video is too clever for its own good....
I want to record two consecutive programs. Fine - type in the VideoPlus
codes, no problem. But, according to VideoPlus, program 1 finishes at 7:30,
which is precisely when program 2 starts. But, at exactly 7:30 (when program 2
starts) the VCR is finishing recording program 1, is therefore 'busy', so it
doesn't start program 2. At all.
> Thanks, I don't know if this is true or not, but I remember seeing
Actually it's on neither list (ummmm...okay, might be on the binary list,
as it is a companion to a multi-star system). And being 11th mag, a
little too faint to be seen naked eye (Polaris is mag ~1.9).
(hint: try looking it up on SIMBAD)

Hehheh second VCR up and running. Folks just to let you know this is a pile of
VCR parts held loosely together by a VCR case <G>

Nearly, not quite. ;-) Alpha coords are 14 39 36 by -60 50 08
and it doesn't have an LTT catalog entry [well, that I can find, anyway]

did someone say they are *STILL* showing it. where??!! Sci-Fi
Channel stopped airing, i cannot find it elsewhere (on the east coast
US).
AICN said there was a chance that Sci-Fi might re-air the eps if
more were produced, but another possibility is to go straight to video. that
would mean skipping TV altogether.... AICN has not provided any updated info
for a while. sigh.
Just to repeat, I am watching it daily on WB59 in the New Haven, CT comcast
cable network. WB has a subset of programs known as BKN ("something Kids
network") and that is why I am still getting SST. Since I have never really
won any lotteries or prizes in my life I find this peice of good fortune to be
a suitable substitute.
The show is excellent on many different levels and would satisfy all on this
list except the most diehard "I hate everything" types. Even though it's on
BKN it is hardly a kid's show which porbably is another factor contributing to
its bscurity, it really doesn't fit into any mold. As it is I am already
dreading the loss (death) of several squad members that are inevitably
apporaching.
And dizzy, as always, is hot.....

BKN = BOHBOT (sp?) Kids Network
SST is one of several shows marketed in syndication to local stations AND,
originally, Sci-Fi Network. BKN executives started hearing complaints
from
the local station managers, pulled the show from Sci-Fi to increase
their efforts for the syndication side, cutting distribution for SST to help
bolster their other shows, I suppose.
Least, that's the story I've heard. No 'me too's', please, unless you are
contradicting me on a major point.
I can't find any locally, and would be delighted to find someone to supply me
with further episodes.

Just a quick 2 bits since I recently read the book.....
Dizzy was the name of a recruit who never made it through training (can't
remember whether they died or washed out).. and happened to be male!:)
Yes the movie and series peg Doizzy as a girl. In the book Dizzy Flores is a
male trooper who is killed on the first drop Rico describes (against the
skinnies). IYRC Rico has to help carry him to the retrieval boat, he actually
has a hole in his armor with blood oozing out. He dies on the way up.

P.S> today's SST we saw the brain bug for the first time and there were some
pretty gruesome artfcats hanging around the brain chamber.

IIRC, Dizzy is actually from the first scene in the book. It's a "future"
scene occuring some time after rico completes his training to become MI but
before the bug war breaks out. They're invading some planet and Dizzy dies at
the end of the invasion. They used quite a bit of "artistic license" on Dizzy
in the movie and apparently in the cartoon as well.

As a heads-up, those with high-speed net access should check
Alt.Binaries.Multimedia. There are a few Roughnecks:SST Chronicles posted. We
are talking nearly 700 meg of stuff in.RAR format(WinRAR is like WinZIP) so be
prepared.

P.S. I have =NO= idea who posted a request there... ;)

It's on WB here in my area. WB=warner Brothers. There should be a WB
affilliated station in your area, then hopefully your WB also carries BKN in
he morning.

Anyone in the B'more region can watch it by tuning into Fox45. I just
discovered this friday (almost never watch local stations anymore since I
got cable oh so long ago...not that I get to watch that much, either :-/

if you are duplicating tapes (and willing), let me know what kind of
compensation you need to make me a copy.
