Hello all, my employer has just decided that I want to move from Victoria BC
to Petawawa Ontario. I Was hoping someone could advise me of any gaming
opportunities in the area such as (stores/groups/cons). Also I will be
travelling east on the Trans-Canada and would like to know if there are
any
Hi Neil,
Posted to Pet, eh? Poor guy:)
I have no idea about what, if anything, gaming related exists in Petawawa
itself, but if you're prepared to travel as far as Ottawa, there are several
game stores and a con or two every year.
TomB (on this list) is from Ottawa, so bug him to give you more specific
details.
There are at least a couple of gaming cons:
Cangames is one:

As far as Must See stores, if you can make it into Calgary, the Sentry Box is
the Must See of all Must See games stores. I've been into Game Stores all over
North America and in the UK, and the Sentry Box is by far the biggest gaming
hobby related store I've ever seen, anywhere. It's huge (like, upwards of
13,000 square feet of retail space, not including the gaming areas, computer
rooms, snack bar, etc.). They're also one of the only retail stores I've seen
in Canada with GZG products on the racks. They have a whole area devoted to
old RPG stuff, current RPG stuff, a book store area with several thousand
titles, a miniatures area for all the
modern sci-fi and fantasy games, a separate miniatures area devoted to
historical wargaming (that one is in a separate room upstairs), CCG's,
videos/anime, etc etc. I have family in Calagary, and whenever I'm in
town I have to set aside at least one afternoon to go poke about that place.
If you're a dedicated gamer and you're passing by there anyway, it's worth the
stopover. They have a website at:
http://www.sentrybox.com/
where you can get address and contact info. Highly recommended.
In my neck of the woods (Toronto) there isn't any store good enough to
recommend taking a side trip to go see. If you were planning on being here
anyway, there are a few places I could recommend going to, but nothing like
the Sentry Box.
Good luck with the trip!
