Not this last time.

But: My wife is in Iraq, and she's got a blog, and I'll be updating my blog on
this rotation. I'll be going back at the end of this year.

Hers: http://www.livejournal.com/users/soldiergrrrl/
Mine: http://www.livejournal.com/users/sappersgt/

In other news, I got my stripes back, effective date 1 Feb 05.

Oh, and A. E. Brain? His blog freakin' rocks. Anyone else on this list keep
one going?

CONGRATS! Doubly so for the "this guy is unusually switched-on for an
E4" medal. Not something given out with Cornflakes packets.

Ta. Oh yes, you and your wife might get a slight increase in traffic on your
blogs soon.

Spiffy! Except that I'm not in the 4th ID anymore, now in the 1st Armored. And
Jen's still in Kuwait.:) But thanks for the referrals! I find it amusing the
bit you linked to from a while ago.

Best thing about Germany, the Speedlimits actually make sense for the
terrain/road/curves.

Nah, ACEs don't road march. Too slow. You have to HET them or (more common)
move them by rail.

Car, yes. Couple times. Drove from Heidelburg without dropping under 130 the
entire time. In a Ford Escort from the TMP motor pool.:)

A Ford Escort wouldn't go 130 MPH if you dropped it from an airplane.

So that means you were driving an Escort on the autobahn at 130 kph? Pah. If
you're not doing 130 kph on highway 401 in Ontario, at least when you're not
crawling through Toronto, you're just not keeping up with the flow of traffic.

I got my then one year old 1991 Honda Civic up to 160 kph just east of Toronto
before I chickened out. I got a 1987 Plymouth Horizon up to 160 kph on the
same stretch, but the Horizon had a deceptively large engine for its size.

I cruised across parts of Bavaria on a vacation with a VW Golf topping out
right around 160 KPH. That was comfy. We were passing most of the traffic
except for the dudes in the Audi's and Benz's that would appear on the horizon
in the rear view giving me enough time to signal, merge right and give them
space to blast past. That was fun.

No, that was the lowest speed I dropped to.

My point being that is an illustration of how much the traffic had cleared up
and the road dried off as compared to the morning, where on particular 18 km
stretch took me 45 minutes.
