Yep, its one of his best for a long time!
By the way I'd heard that 3 figure companies got rights to the Lord of the
Rings figs, so it'll be interesting to see what turns up.

There is a good deal of that;)

A man after my own heart, though I may have to add it to the ever growing list
of people I must set straight via the battlefield (though they'll all probably
only be incapacitated by laughing themselves stupid at my dice rolling
abilities!!);)
Cheers

If memory serves this is not the first time GW have had the rights to produce
LOTR miniatures, this is going back at least ten years when
GW/Citadel produced a interesting range of figures (a range of
miniatures based Micheal Morcook's characters, for example).
In fact Beth actually has a old GW Thorin Oakenshield (is that the right
name?) miniature from this range, we got second hand from a friend. He can be
found in Beth's dwarf army gallery under the alias of The mighty hero

Oi less of that......I've got 2 months left to enjoy good old 29 thank you
very much!
Start running:)
You guys don't even begin to qualify as APPRENTICE "Old Fart" gamers til you
get to be 45. I will be 53 this year, the oldest gamer I know and play with is
76 or so.
Tell 'em, Pops! (From Glenn/Triphibious who is a young 50 - although
that's old for a Nekton...)
I do love the games where there are the earnest pre-teens out there with
us, keeping us on our toes (and using our 'dirty tricks'!) because it keeps
reminding me there is a futurte to our hobby despite the nay sayers!
Gracias, Glenn/Triphibious
You don't have to be French to be a 'frog', or even human!
Nektons - Real Marines!
Starguard, Dirtside 2, Ratner's Space Marines, Stellar Conflicts
and Uprisings, and Full Thrust/2nd. Resistance is everything!

Amen, brother Amphibian! Youth is life blood to our war gaming hobby -
especially to those of us who enjoy "historical" war gaming. If we don't
bring in the GW Warhammer victims and the D&D players, we are fools indeed.

Step 1: "Hey, I need some help. I'm taking a cruiser squadron, and I need an
opponent to take a superdreadnought," Step 2: <shaking head ruefully> "Gosh,
you really clobbered me..." Step 3: "Want to try again?"

Not all pre-teens and recently non-pre-teens started out marching in

that happened, although even he almost was converted. And as for D&D, I
started
playing after I was a well established non-GW wargamer, which is to say,
IMHO, a real wargamer

I hereby accept you as an "Old Fart Gamer to-be". Make up your own
membership certificate and carry it proudly!
My biggest fear in all this that the orcs in LoTR are scary, they plot and
have intelligence conversations. They are large and viscious. Everyone looks
down on them, but they are not to be trifled with. This is the image of orcs I
have always carried around in my head. At no time
have I ever looked at GW's caricature orcs and ever had respect for their
game.
If they do that with their LoTR effort...

We've been rehabilitating a small group of GW victims at our game club,
using Ft & SG2 as our therapy tools. It's going amazingly well - there's
a bit of stressing over 'What weapons does that figure have again?" when our
answer is "Well, what weapons do you want him to have?", but it's generally
good gaming all around.
I even had one of the recovering GW victims tell me during yesterday's SG2
game that it was more fun than 40K, although he wishes there were rules for
demons in SG2. When I told him to go write some rules for demons in SG2 if he
wanted them, that kind of startled him...
The amazing cheapness of 15mm stuff compared to GW's 28mm figures also
helps...
