Subject: OT forge welding Re: [SGII] Modular Starship Terrain, for sale?

I've called forge welding damascus a lot of things, but "fun" isn't one of
them. Unusual to find someone else that's done it though.

Do you use a trip hammer, or do it by hand?

I do it by hand. A power hammer is one of the "Tim" tools I don't have yet. I
use a small propane forge of my own construction, a hammer and a anvil. You
can see my forge and photos of my shop at the SCA web link below. As far as
being "fun" goes, working with my hands is very good at stress reduction.
I have a bunch of hobbies (wood/metal working, gaming, underwater
photography, ect....) all designed to take me away from the "real world" for
awhile.

I'm assuming you're referring to pattern welding? Damascus blade ar another
thing entirely.
