Subject: [OT]Every Man a Tiger
Hello Everybody Just finished reading "Every man a Tiger" by Tom Clancy and Chuck Horner in paper-back. Well-written, an excellent read, and quite infomative. Chuck Horner was the commander of the US Air Forces during the Gulf War. This is his biography, with a heavy emphasis on the Gulf War, but also some interesting scenes and insights on the Vietnam War and the time in between. The Gulf War section gives an very good impression of all the work and effort it took to organize such a large air force, something not easily appreciate in a Wargame, even in a campaign. What brings this on topic even for Full Thrust ;-) is that Horner was CINCSPACE after the War. Some interesting, slightly tongue-in-cheek remarks about relationship between the military and the 'space geeks', about the workings of the US military space program and a strong plea for the exploration of space. Horner (or Clancy?) even manages to explain various types of orbits in plain woids. (Not that anybody on this list would need that ;-) Fascinating
