I believe Chobham is the town where the UK's tank design body was situated
after WWII I think it's located in Surrey, and therefore the etymology is
probably
[Saxon Personal Name] Ham [Village]

Anyone local want to add/correct?

It's a research establishment (forget its full title) located in... Chobham,
Surrey, not too far from Aldershot, Sandhurst, etc., IIRC.
