Ok I just received a virus laden e-mail from webmaster@stargrunt.ca

The file it didn't like was 'reccee38t' 53k in size.

It was sent to my work address jeremy.claridge@kcl.ac.uk which is
not one I normally use for list/hobby communication.

So which one of you lovely stargrunt.ca dudes is trying to send me something.
Or in case it is one of those e-mails which disguises the sender who's
got both
mentioned e-mail addresses in their address book?

Just letting people know in case something is doing the rounds.

TomB is out of the country and I doubt he's reading email, so it's probably
one of

Hi Folks,

> Ok I just received a virus laden e-mail from webmaster@stargrunt.ca

Thanks for letting us know Jeremy.

As Laserlight mentioned, TomB is out of the country so I'm sure he isn't
sending mail, and I *know* it wasn't me. I don't actually have the capability
to send mail from my PC addressed *from* the webmaster address... Our hosting
provider only allows *incoming* mail through their POP mailer.

On top of that, I have Norton Anti-Virus running here at home... (not a
guarantee by any means, certainly)...

And on top of *that*, I did a search on my PC here for your work address
-
through all my mailboxes that might have it, etc. - and I don't *have*
that address anywhere.... Maybe TomB has seen it before, but as I said, he's
out of the country this week and away from his 'puters.

I suspect that someone *else* has got a virus, and they had both your address
and the stargrunt.ca address bookmarked... maybe?

Certainly however it wasn't either of us!

If anyone else receives nasties addressed *from* anything@stargrunt.ca please
let us know!

Thanks folks!

I have no more info to give Nathan.
The fact that it came through my work e-mail meant that it got zapped
long before it reached me. So I don't know which virus it was. I know work
didn't kill it just because of content, it might have deleted a genuine file
but if Adrian didn't send me anything and with TomB out of the country. I can
only assume it wasn't a genuine attempt to send me a file.
