I know that this is horribly OT, but since there are plenty of lovers of all
things military on the list, I thought I'd mention that this last weekend in
Fresno the last reunion of the Doolittle Raiders was held.
It featured 12 B-25 Mitchell bombers, a variety of smaller aircraft
(including both a TBM Avenger and an F8-F Bearcat fighter, neither of
which I'd ever had the opportunity to see up close before, and I've been to a
LOT of airshows), and a dozen of the surviving Doolittle Raiders. It was a
great event, and it was great to see the planes flying,
particularly 11 B-25's in formation coming over the field. After
hearing them all warmup and watching them take off, it gives me a real
appreciation as to what it must have been like on the various airfields of
WWII with many times that number of planes taking of to sortie against the
Axis. It was also great because I got the opportunity to meet many WWII vets
who came out to the event, not just the Doolittle Raiders themselves. All in
all it was a wonderful experience. I took plenty of pictures, and should there
be any interest, I'll post them on my website when I get them back later this
week.

Thanks,

Ah now I know where they where coming from. I live near the Burbank Airport
and late on Sunday we had quite a few old W.W.II planes fly over. I thought
maybe they where doing some film shoot, but I bet they where fueling up etc.
at the Airport.
