April 30, 1859- CAMARONE DAY- National Holiday of the French Foreign
Legion. It commemorates a battle during the French Empire in Mexico. 175
legionaires were attacked at a little ranchero called Camarone by thousands of
Juaristas. The legionaires fought until only 12 were left alive with no more
bullets. When the Mexican commander called upon them to surrender Capt. Danjou
ordered "Fix bayonets and Charge!" Since then to do a
suicidally-gutsy last stand is called a "Camarone". The wooden hand of
Capt. Danjou is a relic at the Legions headquarters outside Marseilles.

A good book in its own right, it also features an Alien race which suffers
from Racial paranoia and cyborg Legionnaires.

Agreed, in general just a kick-butt book. I've been mulling over how to

play Trooper II's in DSII. I've concluded that the best thing to do would
be to just make them Combat Walkers - in this case, the crew is found in
the Brain Box.
