This is for any out there who watch the Big Bang Theory show. Two items.

1) in some upcoming episode there should be one or two global maps of Mercury
showing up on one of the walls of the set (living room, perhaps?), courtesy of
MESSENGER. Be on the lookout for them (I have no idea when they will appear,
the prints are being made now and shipped to the studio)

2) if you suddenly catch the phrase 'geek bling' being batted about,
apparently *I* was (unknowingly) the inspiration for this. Last year one of
the guys here indicated to the mission pins on my ID lanyard and called them
geek bling. (you can see a photo of it here:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150481181208880&l=b8f18192d9
And apparently recently the producers of the show were speaking with our
mission ops manager about the goings on behind the scenes here. he indicated
this phrase being used by the mission (still mostly in reference to me).

Just a note.

Excellent, Indy, as firm fans of BBT we will watch out for the references!
Over this side of The Pond we're just waiting for the second half of
the season 5 to start post-hiatus - have you lot over there had all
of season 5 yet?

I don't know. I have to honestly say I've never watched the show (since the
end of BSG I have had pretty much no time to regularly follow any tv series'
anymore; even Caprica was a strain for me to keep up with for the short time
it was on, and I missed a lot). I may have to correct this and see what I'm
missing since I've learned today that a whole bunch of people watch it
regularly.

I've not been that interested, though it's on so often in reruns, and I catch
it in the usual five minute snatches, I'd not be sure where I feel I know
what's going on.

Frankly, I'd wait for it to come to Netflix to try to see it from the
beginning, IF I were interested.

No love for Glee either, so curmudgeon-R-us.

Still, I suppose I can ask a friendly fan to Tivo any refs to you. ;->=

Mark,

Looked at your lovely mission pins, etc. I am assuming the bottom one was
given to you by John DeLancie after your work with the Continuum?

As to the photobombing: Not sure if I was guilty, but the transit and the
camera fascinated me when I discovered them because I had no idea that you
were collecting shots for a time-lapse. Had that been something I was
aware of, I might not have walked up and stared at it like it was ET.... (so
next time, if you do it, you might want to post a large note saying 'please
don't stare at the camera, we're getting shots for a time lapse retrospective
video'....)

There's a bit of a difference between walking up and curiously staring at the
set up and walking up and making faces, undressing, giving gang signs,
holding up drawings, etc. :-)
