Actually, I won't go into details, I'm still skulking from my other OT
rantings, but I will say that, inspite of a few
mis-readings of the rules, and some parts that are still a
little unclear, I had a very good time, and not just cuz the
Imps won the scenerio. ;->=
Given that I'll agree that the figs are well worth $5+ apiece,
the rest of the box contents are acceptable for the $20 remaining.
Now, I'll be trying Gothic Thrust soon, and hope to be helping with the
polishing on that noble effort.
After all, inspite of a long and noble tradition in Nappy Age
of Sail games, I STILL really hate range guess-timation, and as
a loyal Imperial commander, I need the Nova!
Er, Mark, you ARE working on an alternate for the Nova, please?

It is a nice little system, isn't it?

Personally I need to get ahold of some more cruisers. Now that I have found
out how fighters and bombers work, my fleet is in desperate need of carriers.
Also a few Lunars and tyrants wouldn't hurt either. Right now I have two
Gothics, a Dominator, and an Overlord.

Thanks... I could use the help.
Well, I'm working on the missile rules to make them more BFG compatable. I'm
thinking of keeping the fighter rules just as they are (in BFG, you have the
bottomless fighter bays...) for balance sake.

As a matter of fact, yes. I was thinking of using a a 6' blast marker that
does anywhere between 4d6 and 6d6 damage.

Er, ah, I'm assuming 6" blast. ;->= Actually, I'm curious about
what to replace the range estimation part. Die roll vs. Leadership?

A truly massive weapon that covers the entire table. 8^) My question is how to
store the template? (grin)

Whoops! I meant 6" as in inches. Just goes to show you the difference a shift
key can make.

Just imagine how short the battle would be...the one with a surviving unit
wins. 8D

Let me know what you get something. I played my first game of BFG last night.
Some of it is a little table heavy - the battery fire is a little too
complicated IMO - but it's generally a nice system, which is places is
startlingly similar to Another Game We Know Well. We are going to pinch the
scenario system for our FT games and the campaign system possibly too.

You don't have copyright over the name 'Nova Cannon' do you Jon? There was one
in FT I think.

Bah. I had two shots with an NC last night and both missed wildly. That's
life. I like their 'dumb' torp rules. No real guidance involved but it really
does encourage a torp equipped ship to get behind an enemy. We did wonder
about fighters though, they seemed far too easy to kill.

Er, eight figs at about $5 would be $40 plus $20 IS $60.
I've seen net offers at $42, but this was a case of me supporting the local
shop. Now, if I get a second copy, JUST for the ships...

Not to mention someone pointing out 'static' long and short ranges. Still, I
thought it worked much better than you'd have thought from
some of the anti-GW savaging it got on some rec.games....

Definitely one in FT, but I could swear I'd heard the term before in anime'. I
know that it was designed after things like the Wave Motion gun, but still
think it's ringing another bell.

We had someone whining about the torps being to easy to avoid. Natch, he was
shooting from across the table at the time; at long range, they're something
you annoy the enemy with, close up you ruin their day. The 'reload' order
makes 'em tough to bunch up enough to make a good cloud of 'em.
Same with the fighter/bombers. The turrets soak off, the fighters soak
off, so you have to have a large mass of them to be able to do damage. We hit
with one or two squadrons at a time, only to read more closely and realize the
above. Course, we also thought the 'two squadrons' meant two available,
not two launched. ;->=

This is one area I have high hopes, also.
Our FT games are almost exclusively head-to-head meeting scenerios, and
I know several folks bored at that.
