"Cultural conditions, not gun laws, are the most important factors in a
nation's crime rate. Young adults in Washington D.C. are subject to strict gun
control, but no social control, and they commit a staggering amount of crime.

control, and they commit almost no violent crime."

Please. WHY did you do this? Do NOT bring gun control debates onto this list.
It's a motherhood issue and NO ONE ever changes their opinion about it. This
is not a sociology list, it's a gaming list. There are gun control advocates
on here, and there are NRA members on here, and there are people all across
the spectrum. Off topic discussions like that is what is killing Usenet. Don't
let this list go the same way.

And a MOST strongly worded "hear hear" for that sentiment, at the risk of
"me to"ing...
Please keep it off this list.
I concur with request.
For the record, I believe my view would be considered as a conservative
American view on freedom to own guns, I don't own any and personally don't
want any in my house at this time, BUT MOST OF ALL I DO NOT WANT THIS
"DISCUSSION" ON MY GAME LISTS! (Sorry for the shouting.)
Please discuss this elsewhere or off-line, and let's stick to FT, SG,
and DS plus all the other 'stuff' that we can go on tangents about at least
semi-legitimately.
I apologize if I have offended anyone, especially the original poster of the
quote. I doubt you deserve this set of reactions but this is like crossposting
from rec.games.miniatures.misc to
rec.games.miniatures.warhammer - it only brings people of sincere
conflicting beliefs into confrontation. I mean I, the evangelical
Presbyterian, don't discuss religion with my liberal, non-christian,
pro-gay rights feminist friend at work unless she brings it up (and she
doesn't because it is something we know we are never going to convince each
other of and it might hurt our work relationship which we both value. Besides,
there are so many many flaws in management that we can agree on!)
Okay, I'll shut up on this now.
Gracias.

I'll do it agian if I believe it is needed. If I am kicked off the list, I
will
get a new e-mail provider (a free one) and be back on in less than one
day...

Opinions are rarely made or changed in a day. But seeds can be planeted that
will grow and flourish latter.

Funny, my experience of sociology is that it is a rather stupid and very
expensive game (in money and lives) played by highly degreed persons without
the intellectual capacity to do differential equations.
> There are gun control advocates
I don't care if people are offended by what I posted or not. One of the
biggest
problems with the post-modern world is that people are too worried about
offending others. It is better to know what people think and why they think
that.
> Off topic discussions like that is what is killing Usenet.
What's killing Usenet is live chat. Why wait for e-mail when you can
participate in a real time discussion.

Then I suggest you start planning a crusade to prevent any chat rooms with
specializing in GZG products...

There's been a lot more bandwidth spent on snarling at Imre, than Imre spent
on sending the quote. Shall we all agree to drop the subject, and express that
agreement by NOT posting anything more on the topic?

First off, just so you know my stand, I am firmly against gun control. At a
minumum I believe most of the gun control laws are a direct violation of the
US Constitution and an amendment would need to be made before any of these
laws go into place, however...

You might check Sprints (and other ISPs) terms of service. You are in direct
violation of a contract you made with them. Since you feel you do not need to
conform to the purpose of this list, or your own word with respect to your
contract with Sprint, I don't see how anyone can have any respect for your
opinion.

Oh really??? Section M applies to USENET and newsgroups. It mentioned nothing
about mailing lists... This could be a fun one to take court, and I really
don't have anything better to do this summer... Considering some of the off
topics I have had no problem putting up with, why is there a problem? (Ok, I
did engage in the dreaded battleship versus carrier OT debate). If you're not
interested in the topic, delete it. I do it most of the time even to on topic
posts to SG (fell in love with AH's FirePower many years ago and I haven't
found a man to man game that measures up) and DSII (I gave up on DSII last
fall. Can't handle big battles in a reasonable time frame. I've been
debating about simplyfing AH's MBT/IDF into a faster and better sci-fi
game. I think it would probably be less trouble then trying to fix
DSII.).
I invite all interested persons to go to 'RemarQ' and
continue the debate. Many interesting topics are available,
unlimited number of people to be offended by.
Bye for now,

In otherwords, you'll go against the lists social dictates to commit your
crimes against us. Your quote is especially fitting. Too bad you didn't listen
to it yourself.

Thats what.sig files are for.:P

It's certainly not played by people that can't even use an email list

Sorry, but this one is just toooooo tempting...

Are you a ware that the man I quoted is FOR gun control...

I do what logic, reason, and my ethical code dictate. I don't give a
_____ (please
insert your favorite profanities and obscenities in the blank) what people
think about me or my code of ethics.
> > Funny, my experience of sociology is that it is a rather stupid and
That's not true at all... I have two bachelor's degrees in the social sciences
area. The one thing I learned while getting them is contempt for the
statistical methods used for most of their research. I do respect the
dedication in archival research and the logical process in philosophy, but
there are no philosophers today (another topic
entirely...).
When I said, 'Please, oh please, stop' it was meant for those responding.
It was obvious from the beginning the original author did not respect those on
the list, which he's repeated acknowledged. Please make further replies
directly to him, or his ISP supplier(s).
