Subject: [OT] Attn: Karl, Re: Fuel Cell Cars
Karl, you expressed interest in knowing if foreign automakers would have access to Bush's Fuel Cell program. According to U.S. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, foreign automakers will be allowed to take advantage of government funding for fuel cell research. The only catch is: "The goal we have is that we want to be sure there is reciprocity," Abraham said. "We want to make sure that American companies, whether it is in the automotive sector or the energy sector, would be given similar opportunities in other countries if their governments are involved in these kinds of research efforts."
