G'day guys,
My loving husband pointed me to the latest colour Larry Leadhead cartoon...

...can't think why he thinks it fits;P

G'day Jon,

Him too!! I'm also flattered that he jumped to mind before I did (my
reputation isn't so bad after all!!);)
They must have changed it before I took a look. The cartoon I saw was about
smelling flowers and lead.
Perhaps you meant http://www.larryleadhead.org/images/featurec1.gif

Could be worse--you could have the Hudak Postal Certificate ("he
seemed like a nice guy--kinda quiet, kept to himself...") for most
regrettable interaction with noncombatants. Of course, if *you* had got into
that situation, it'd probably have ended up with the

Oh, that rocket shot..... Well, if a woman and her child wants to stand in
front of my defensive position in the middle of a firefight, well that's their
business..... There's no truth to the rumor that I ordered the soldier firing
the missile to set it to "extra crispy". And with the mob that came
afterwards, well, gee, I felt like a movie star. Gandolfini
maybe.... ;-)
And how did you find out about that anyway? Oh, that's right, the
indestructible news crew...... Damn I hate the media.
The only regrettable action was not torching the news crew..... I won't make
that mistake again at ECC V!
Bring on the media!!!!!
(Tongue firmly in cheek, jokes and chuckles all around.)

sometime.....)

Right, it wasn't an order, just a suggestion. A suggestion from a sergeant
to a private. I heard you. ;-)

No, I was running your LLAR mercs. You know, the ones who shot down the
medevac chopper? (and also called in artillery which deviated onto our own

(So says the commander who ended up dropping some orbital insertion PA onto an
empty APC due to deviation... destroyed the APC, but took the PA
troopers too.... ^_^; )
And after all that, it's something of a wonder the battle was a draw. (For
those who aren't sure, this was Stuart Murray's GZG ECC IV 15 mm battle. Good
stuff. We *did* actually get some good shots in there, really we did!)

well, I got the first inkling of the way things were going when Stuart said
"your commander's a *three*? Try again. Right, you're still a
three." And "Oh, that's bad, roll again. Oh, that's worse--keep
that one!"

You mean at the civilians? Aside from that, the only particularly successful
bit I recall was your command element turning and chasing

As anyone who has played under him can attest, Stuart is a kind and generous
individual. Except when he's refereeing a scenario, when he becomes something
of a cold and heartless bastard, as far as his players are concerned, though
he has a great (when viewed from outside) sense of humor. (Or, since he is
from the
UK, sense of humour.) ^_^

Hmm, that too, though they did spend a fair bit of time running at first. But
I was also thinking of the tank side of things; I got in some pretty good
shooting, IIRC they got one of my 3 tanks, then I got all 3 of the tanks in
one group with no more losses, plus one or both of the Star Wars robot tanks
with only one loss. (In other words, I had one very good tank & crew!)
I think that's what happened, anyway, though the disasterous events (medevac
choppers both going down,
the civvies, losing half the PA, self-inflicted arty
wounds) do come to mind somewhat more easily....
G'day Brian,

That was the black and white one with the link to the colour one underneath,
but I'm glad you found it in the end;)

not exactly a disaster, just very very embarassing.

...Having our fighter shot down as it entered the battle area. Having our
helicopters come on with only one turn worth of fuel. My PA ambushing the
droid tanks from point blank range and unable to scuff the paint. Our light
tanks coming in deep on the right flank and dying in droves (although they did
get one good shot off)...ah, the memories...
Stuart's gleeful "sympathy" did make it a great event though. Next time I'll
have some idea what the rules are...
