Subject: OK,OK tyhis is how my fleet was made...
Alright, alright, here is how my ships were made... Fleet carrier: My first ship, i wanted to keep the flat top look, so i cut some sheet styrene in the desired deck shape and then glued it on top of a little box (hull) (the contianers for mechanical pencil's lead). for the thruster i used a 1x4 lego, with the hollow end facing out glued to the back of everything. The superstructure is mainly made up of an old "enter" key from an ancient keyboard. To this I added odds and ends to make it look more interesting (mainly a BIC pen cap on the side of the hull to cover a huge hole that was left. Once painted it looked alright. Another ship i made consisted of two scale model airplane bombs. One was the central body the other was kept in halves and glued to the sides. To this i added some styrene to create a bridge and added a few guns (cylinder beads used to make collars mounted on computer connector pins). At about this time io got my dremel (been wanting one for years, finally got arround to getting it). My superdreadnought was the first ship i can really say is mostly made from scratch. the only parts that aren't are a computer connector cover that became the exhaust, two lead boxes (small and interestingly shaped, they are the thin blue ones with a neck- some might recognise them) that became the forward booms and two 2x2 legos i used to anchor the structure. Everything else was cut sheet styrene. My dreadnought is essentially a smaller version of my superdreadnpught except that it is made completely of cut sheet styrene. There are other ships but the are all made in much the same manner as the ones above. More than anything else i'd recomend finding wworkable shapes arround the house and simply adding stuff to them (like say, sheet styrene or whatever plastic you have available and can work with) As far as cruisers go i'd recommend you simply buy Micro Machines, fix them up and then paint them, they turn out very well. I hope this helps anyone wondering how to make unique ships.
