Subject: [OFFICIAL UPDATE] New FT ships and SG stuff from GZG!!

[Commercial announcement mode on!]

Hi all,

Just to let you know we've got some new FT ships out now, with a bit of a
long story behind them - those of you who have copies of MT will have
noticed the photo on P7, with a couple of ships attacking a shuttle -
the slightly "trekkie" style ships (round forward "saucer" hulls and elongated
rear hulls) were credited as being by Mercury Minatures, and were sculpted by
an old friend, Jim Langer; MM was going to be the name he used for various
projects he was working on, but these never came to fruition. We made a mould
of them for Jim (this was over ten years ago!) but for various reasons he
never got round to agreeing that they be put into production, until now! After
much pressure <grin> Jim has finally agreed to let us market the ships, and
seven classes are now in full production and
available as listed below - the Defence Outpost is coming soon.

I didn't want to use any of the existing Earth-based nations for these
ships, and also didn't want to introduce them as another alien force at this
point, so for the sake of calling them SOMETHING I went for Outrim
Coalition (OK, it spells ORC, but these are NOT GW Ork-style ships....).
No, I don't have a proper background for the ORC, but see it as probably a
mutual-defence league between several technically-developed Outworld
colonies who have broken away from earth domination. Of course, you can
use these ships for anything you want - they look really nice, and would
make good additions to any trek-style fleet (eg the Irregular stuff) as
well as for use on their own. Detailing is very fine, and well up to the
standard of any of our other FT ranges.

Ships out are listed below. I do have a decent B&W jpeg of the range, if
anyone would like to host it on a suitable site for the listers to look at?

---------------------
NEW SHIP MODELS FOR FULL THRUST:
The OUT-RIM COALITION fleet:
These excellent and detailed models are produced under licence from their
designer, Jim Langer; they were actually sculpted many years ago, but have
never been put into proper production until now - those of you who have
a copy of More Thrust may have spotted that they are the ships illustrated in
the photo on P.7 of that publication. We can't promise that there will be
expansions to this fleet, but if they sell well then we may be able to
persuade Jim that it would be a good idea to make some more classes..... in
the meantime they make a very nice force in their own right, with many uses
for FT and other games. All AVAILABLE NOW unless noted! FT1204 Outrim
Coalition Frigates (pack of 2) £1.95 FT1205 Outrim Coalition Destroyers (pack
of 2) £2.25 FT1206 Outrim Coalition Light Cruiser £1.95 FT1208A Outrim

Much more to come soon - the other big bit of news is that (if all goes
to plan) I will at last be having a new member of staff joining me very
shortly - this will hopefully (when he's settled in) free up some of my
time to get stuck into some proper designing and writing again, which I
haven't been able to do much of this year as I've been having to run all
parts of the business single-handed. So, hopefully lots more new stuff
to
come - watch this space!!

Are there any plans to release the GZG vehicles in 15mm? Can anyone suggest
other manufactures which might be doing 15mm Sci-Fi vehicles?

Firstly, THANKS MR.POPE! With Jon, I think these will work VERY well with the
Irregular saucer ships.

It's moments like these that make me want to self-kick and get some
webspace functioning.

Pengebos: KR's been pretty mum about doing 15mm; by all means, to impress him
with your interest, but I think he's already said he's not moving on the 15mm
just yet.

Aron: Lot's of folks doing 15mm vehicles, I think, but the only one off the
top of my head is Stan Johansen, whom I mentioned a bit ago for his
'space-a-roos'. ;->= I find many of these a little round and doughy
looking, but YMMV.

Sorry, don't have the Johansen URL handy, but I know it'll be in the archives.
Something like 'lovers of OZ' in my post's subject.

That's spelled "Alarishi Empire" :-) , although "coalition" is
perhaps too formal--"functioning anarchy", now...

That's not kosher! :-)

So if I invest in 15mm SG figs, then what size Infantry Walker are the four
25mm powered armor troops I've got?

It's OK provided he doesn't try to eat it...... ;-)

About size 1, I guess. The new 1/144 scale Heavy Gears would make nice
size
1/2 Inf Walkers for 15mm....

Thanks for the pictures!

They remind me of Trilobites. Espically the large one.

My idea exactly.:) You'd be surprised how 'right' 15mm looks standing next to
them too. Fits the idea of the little bity crammed cockpit and the idea of
Heavy Gears being small nimble fighting machines to a T.

Actually, I was thinking of adding traditional PA suits to my games of "Gear

These new PA figs would be perfect. At the same time, the standard infantry
figs would be great for my standard games of "Heavy Gear."

My browser didn't show anything on the page, but I looked at the source, and
found this pic.

If forced to, I'd take trilobites over horseshoe crabs...

Personally, though, I think you folks aren't looking closely enough. Don't you
think the 'tail' pieces on several appear to have a strong FSE influence???
With recent ORC 'incidents' on ESU frontiers, the motherland's deep space
flotillas shall be even more vigilant!
