Hi all,
Not wanting to blow our own trumpet TOO much, but just wanted to let you know
that the SFSFW Awards were presented yesterday at Bifrost, the Society's
annual show, and we won three of them!
First places in:
Best Science-Fiction manufacturer for figures 25mm and larger
Best Science-Fiction manufacturer for figures 20mm and smaller
and the best of all....
Best Science-Fiction Rules Set, for Full Thrust!
This means that FT has won this award EVERY TIME it has been presented (the
awards lapsed for a few years, but have now been re-instated) - not bad
for
a 12-year-old rules set..... ;-)
Needless to say, we're well chuffed! :-)
Congrats, Jon!
A perusal of eBay auctions involving small space ship models will almost
always mention 'can be used in Full Thrust'. That's got to be at least as
good as any award. ;->=
Still, the 'twelve year old' comment requires a grain of salt. I still enjoy
occasional games of the original rule set, but you have to give credit, and
have done so regularly, to the diligent good effort of the fans extending,
modifiying, and testing rules, while still maintaining the sense of great fun,
given us from the first.
Thanks Jon, and everyone else here!

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more about the contributions from everyone
involved over the years - but it still sometimes amazes me how popular
the game still is, given the huge number of other rules and products that have
come out of the industry over the last decade....! :-)

I can only imagine. Congrats and complimenti, Jon. I'm just as happy to have
been involved with this game system for the better part of 9 years and see it
recognized as still on top.

Oh, we are in complete agreement, of course; as a mere list gadfly, I wanted
to let the real workers know how much I appreciate them.
But, you are quite right. I've the several versions of Starfire and Star Fleet
Battles, with longer histories but somehow having lost something, as well as a
HUGE pile of works that each looked brilliant, and really hurt with their
demise. FT's staying power is worthy of pride.
Some of the ideas folks here have promoted on the list could have added levels
of complexity that might well have killed the system. You must take blame for
keeping it still a nice, simple game with plenty of potential for
adaption to what an individual wants. ;->=
Synergy are good.

I've been using it for five years and it deserves this recognition and all the
accolades. Congratulations Jon!
So, between GZG and Brigade did anyone else win an award?

Well put.
G'day,

With that rate of success I think you deserve to blow it at least a little;)
Congrats!!!
