Hi all,
A few odd bits of [OFFICIAL] and [COMMERCIAL] news......
At long last, after lengthy and annoying heel-dragging by my old ISP,
the transfer of the <gzg.com> domain to my new ISP has gone through, so you
can now email me either on <jon@gzg.com> once again, or continue to use
<jon@gzg.keme.co.uk>. The GZG Online Store is accessable via
<www.gzg.com>,
or in case of difficulty can still be reached direct at
<www.gtns.net/gzg>.
I've just asked Paul Owen to upload some NEW SPECIAL OFFERS to the online
store; these are VERY LIMITED TIME OFFERS, valid until the 31st January 2002
only, and are also ONLY AVAILABLE ON ORDERS VIA THE ONLINE STORE! There are
huge savings on Stargrunt 25mm AND 15mm figures, Dirtside 6mm
stuff and FT Starships - we've brought back the Mega-Fleet deals on FT
ships that were so popular in our Xmas offers!
Give Paul a little while to get the stuff uploaded, then please go and take
a look..... I'm sure you'll find something irresistable there..... :-)
On NEW STUFF, we've just made the moulds for the next SL range pack -
the Survivalist Family! A pack of Dad (with machine gun), Mom (with rocket
launcher and SMG), Teenage daughter (with sniper rifle) and her kid brother
(with autoshotgun)... oh, and the family dog too! All the figures (Ok, not
the dog) have as much armament as they can carry - pistols, grenades,
ammo
and all the rest - a rather tongue-in-cheek pack that we think will be
very
popular! Code will be SL-29, price 5.00 UKP for the 5-figure set.
This will be available on the Store site very soon (WITH a picture!).
On the FT side, work is progressing nicely on the Japanese Fleet - under
construction at the moment are the Dreadnought and Carrier, plus a Heavy
Battleship and a Heavy Cruiser/Battlecruiser (class to be decided once
it's finshed and I see just how big it's turned out!); next on the slips will
be some of the small classes (scouts, corvettes, frigates) plus the fighters
(probably in both Mecha-mode and fighter-mode) - projected schedule is
to have all the classes available by the end of January, at which point we'll
be doing a special FLEET DEAL to launch the range properly!
I'll post further developments here as they happen, but keep watching the
Store site for news as well.....
Best to all,
The offers are now available at the store so no more excuses, if you dont have
any unpainted lead figures in your house, we know who you are, where you live
and what you need, everyone needs unpainted lead.

And if you *do* have unpainted lead...then you need more. You wouldn't want
the first batch to get lonely, would you? Besides, if you get *enough*
unpainted lead in one spot you achieve critical mass and you find that minis
spontaneously appear, even though you don't recall buying them (or else you
create a black hole and
destroy the earth, but that's very unlikely--however, Indy and Beth
should probably devote more time to painting, just in case the Probability
Skew Demon is paying attention). "Enough" is defined as the amount you have,
plus just a little more...

That's an Urban Legend...
The House with Unpainted Lead
Once a long time ago, before man moved from caves, he had small lumps of
metal - usually lead, but occasionally copper or gold that he used as
figurines. Even these early models were unpainted. As he became more
sophisticated, he started using ashes, clay or other pigments to
highlight his figures. Eventually they became full-fledged painted
miniatures that we know and love today. Man has always had unpainted lead in
his house, even when it was a cave.
The origin of the House with No Unpainted Lead has been around for centuries,
probably propogated by disgruntled spouses who saw their vases and decorative
arts displaced by storage boxes for unpainted lead.
They pictured an "ideal" lead-free environment, completely devoid of
figures. Obviously this could never happen, and so the rumor mutated
into a more benign form - Unpainted Lead-free house. Further evidence
of this conspiracy is shown by the fact that lead paints are now banned for
sale, and efforts are currently being made to remove lead based paints from
houses. How much longer until LEAD figures are next? After all they might be
painted with a LEAD based paint, and go forbid, they
contain LEAD! Even lead-free figures might not escape, since mere
contact with lead figures might taint them in such a way that you need to
dispose of them, "just to be on the safe side".
To combat this scourge, we must stamp out this horrible rumor that a house
exists without unpainted lead. Take up your leaden muskets, rally around our
miniature banners and kill the nebulous beast!

Yeah--for under $50 I just picked up a really
respectable IFed force (72 freakin' figs, now WHEN I will find time to paint
'em all, I don't know)[1]
Anyway, I'm thinking of picking up some of the DSII stuff (I havn't bought new
microarmor in forever) but I want to know what it is. What comes in the
Airborne pack??

That was probably a serious strategic error.
By the way, Don, have you run the Secret Scenario That Everyone But
John Knows About? If not, better get started soon--only got a month
or so to get it done, right?
Looking at the 15mm figures, I notice a listing for Colonial Militia...and now
that I check, I see a 25mm listing as well. What are these figures like? Lower
tech than the standard troops?

FWIW, I wonder about that too. I really shouldn't (I "Have" bought tons of
modern and some WW2 stuff for conversion along with moderate amounts of
Brigade and GZG's two lines) but have no Airborne or VTOL forces of reasonable
size...

Jon, Would it be possible to create a list special for FT ships of the; ORC,
FCT, IF, UNSC as these are the least available on the 'other side of the
pond".
Bye for now,

The Mega Fleet Deals ARE available till the end of Jan on the IF and UNSC (see
the specials in the online store), but there are not really enough classes
available for the ORC and FCT (only 1 ship so far!) to do the full
packs....
