Further to posts earlier today, ALL the new releases listed below are
now up on store and ready for ordering - AND you can take advantage
of the current Special Offer while doing so!

Thanks!

........................................

Hi again all,

Following my earlier post today concerning the SEPTEMBER SPECIAL
OFFER on 15mm infantry, here is a little heads-up on the promised new
releases - all are in full production and ready now, they will be up
on the store for mail-order in just a few hours once I've taken some
photos of them! All the SG and TW packs will (where appropriate) qualify for
the current special offer. Please check the webstore at www.gzg.com shortly,
they'll be uploaded there as quickly as possible!

....................

THE NSL HEAVIES HAVE ARRIVED! Stomping across the battlefield (or
soaring on jump-jets) in support of our recent NSL troops releases,
we are very pleased to announce the all-new, resculpted NSL POWER
ARMOUR TROOPS!
While similar in design to our original SG15-N03 pack, these all-new
sculpts are significantly bigger and more imposing than the old
figures, with the addition of jump-packs and a much wider weapons
selection. Please note that the old N03 pack will remain available for those
who wish to add to old units of them, but these new figures don't really mix
with them.

SG15-N31 NSL "PKaZ" (PanzerKampfanZug) Powered Armour Troops
pack A: Hand Weapons 4.50 (3.75 ex VAT)
Six figures with PA-modified Assault Rifles, plus over-shoulder
grenade launcher racks on (optional) jump-jet backpacks. Pack
contains 6 body castings (3 each of 2 different poses), 6 backpacks and 6 sets
of separate arms to allow maximum pose variation. The back of each body
casting is fully detailed to allow the figures to be
assembled either with or without the jump-packs, to your choice.

SG15-N32 NSL "PKaZ" (PanzerKampfanZug) Powered Armour Troops
pack B: Heavy Support Weapons 4.50 (3.75 ex VAT) Six figures with support
weapons (3 each of Plasma Gun and Heavy
SAW), plus over-shoulder grenade launcher racks on (optional)
jump-jet backpacks. Pack contains 6 body castings (3 each of 2
different poses), 6 backpacks and 6 sets of separate arms to allow maximum
pose variation. The back of each body casting is fully detailed to allow the
figures to be assembled either with or without
the jump-packs, to your choice.

SG15-N33 NSL "PKaZ" (PanzerKampfanZug) Powered Armour Troops
pack C: Command and Missile 4.50 (3.75 ex VAT)
Six figures: 3 command suits with PA-modified Assault Rifles and
comms system plus sensor pod on (optional) jump-jet backpacks, 3
Multi-Role Missile operators with 4-round box launcher and jump-pack
with sensor/designator pod. Pack contains 6 body castings (3 each of
2 different poses), 6 backpacks and 6 sets of separate arms to allow maximum
pose variation. The back of each body casting is fully detailed to allow the
figures to be assembled either with or without
the jump-packs, to your choice.

...................

The BRAZILIANS for TOMORROW'S WAR: sculpted to designs from Ambush Alley
Games, publishers of the Tomorrow's War rules system (available from Osprey
Publishing). Check AAG's website for more information on these figures and the
TW rules!
Three packs out at present - more to follow if these are popular,
which I'm sure they will be....

TW15-BZ01 Brazilian Riflemen, 8 figures with assault rifles
3.60 (3.00 ex VAT) Eight Brazilian troopers in combat hardsuits with "Cyclops"
helmets and standard infantry assault rifle, 2 each of 4 different poses.

TW15-BZ02 Brazilian Support Gunners, 8 figures with SAWs
3.60 (3.00 ex VAT) Eight Brazilian troopers in combat hardsuits with "Cyclops"
helmets and Squad Automatic Weapons (SAWs), 2 each in kneeling firing and
prone firing poses, plus 4 in advancing pose.

TW15-BZ03 Brazilian Heavy and Special Weapons, 8 figures
3.60 (3.00 ex VAT) Eight Brazilian troopers in combat hardsuits with "Cyclops"
helmets,
2 each of 4 different poses: 2 poses with shoulder-fired rocket
system (kneeling firing, and advancing), one pose of Marksman advancing with
sniper rifle, one pose of Grenadier standing firing
auto-grenade-launcher.

.....................

A new (and rather different!) addition to our very popular Colonoal Defence
Force (CDF) troops range:

SG15-C17 Colonial Defence Force (CDF) Mounted Recon Scouts
3.00 (2.50 ex VAT)
CDF scouts mounted on Terran-stock heavy horses, pack contains 2
horses (different poses) and 2 riders (also in different poses), both
with assault rifles or autoshotguns. Good old-fashioned low-tech
Colonial scout forces, extremely capable in bad terrain, long-ranged
and low-maintenance - much more reliable than a grav bike!

......................

Plus a new variant of the MRAP 4-wheeler, great for any colonial,
low-tech or near-future forces....

V15-100D MRAP Open Cargo Truck variant 7.50
(6.25 ex VAT) A further variant of the MRAP protected patrol vehicle, this
time
with an open cargo bed - for logistics support, basic troop transport
or ideal to fit any kind of weapon mount in the back to make a "technical" for
colonial and irregular forces!

......................

That's it for the time being, but there will be even more to come soon!

Thanks for reading.

Yeah, sure sure.

Well, between Jim Klein, Hugh Fisher, and 'those German guys', things are at
least looking like happening again in the FT world, but where's Bugs Don't

let that slide...)

Really, Jon, you need to complete your sentences. Given my economic acumen,
the complete phrase is ' you come over and run the business

Come to think of it, the time period is entirely too optimistic...

Heh! ;-)

Actually, a serious question out of this levity..... in the opinions of those
of you here, how much interest WOULD there still be in the
reviving of the long-back-burnered SG:AC project? That is, a new
edition of Stargrunt with a shift of level to Company-sized forces
and fireteam-based 15mm figures?
Or are there so many other good rules sets out there covering the same ground
already that it would really be a waste of precious time?

I fully expect to get a number of replies along the lines of "forget that and
get FT3 (or FMA, or whatever else you are waiting for) done
first!", but leaving that aside - I'm simply trying to gauge if there
is still enough interest in another 15mm SF ruleset to warrant putting any
time into it, IF and when any such time is available?

It is still something that I'd love to do one day if only as a bit of a
"vanity project", but I'd like to know if anyone is really still
interested....?

Jon there are quite a few rulesets out there but my gaming club has tried most
(Tomorrows War, Hammers Slammers etc) and the jury is still out. No ruleset
has grabbed everyone.

I think the problem seems to stem from the feel of the rules not just the
mechanics. We have at least one club member trying to come up with their own
rules, quite a
few club members have 15mm sci-fi armies.
So if you ever feel the need for playtesters they are hungry to find a ruleset
that fits!

Jon-

When you say company level with fire teams are you thinking along the lines of
a game like Flames of War? Multiple figures per base and the like? I think
15mm lends itself well to that scale, but also think that Dirtside did a
pretty good job with that as well.

For the time being, Doug, I'd rather is WASN'T being widely discussed
elsewhere - I know that this list is still technically a public forum
so I can't stop people reposting stuff from it elsewhere (which is why I'm
always careful what I say on here, as of course one should be anywhere on
line!), but I do still tend to view the members of this list as a small,
friendly group who I can occasionally throw
off-the-wall ideas at.

If it gets talked about on the bigger forums it will inevitably take on a life
of its own, and start endless rumours and internet "facts" circulating; right
now it's just an informal question to the smallish group here; depending on
what transpires from this conversation then I might encourage wider input
later, but not just yet.....

Hope you understand my reasoning in that?

Thanks,

If you write it, they will buy it.

Yes, exactly, James. Think of a typical FoW force size -
combined-arms forces of a couple of platoons each of tanks and
infantry, plus supporting elements; infantry based in 3-4 man teams,
with such a "stand" of figures or a single vehicle as the basic
"element" of play, and a platoon-sized group of such elements as the
standard "tactical unit" in gameplay.

What you do with a Squad in SGII would be done with a Platoon in SG:AC.

In some ways it WOULD be rather like Dirtside (similar organisational level),
but with much more emphasis on infantry than the very
tank-centric style of DSII.

So, yes, like FoW but of course with much less Warhammer-y mechanics....

I'm totally down with less Warhammer-y mechanics, or anything generally
less Warhammer-y in general, with heavy emphasis on price point. ;)

I would probably give them a read over, for sure, but the issue I run into is
more of a time thing, and not necessarily a desire thing. With that said, I
tend to focus on games with more of a skirmish level to them, simply because I
actually have a chance of getting the minis painted up while the game is still
on the market. Painting six to eight guys (or gals) and then gradually adding
to them over the course of time is much easier than painting twenty to??? guys
(or gals).

With that being said, the constructive rules bit that I would offer is please
leave artillery off board. It's kind of a weird thing in FoW, and I get that
the minis are cool, but it has always felt off to me. Artillery as an
objective could be fun though, so mayhaps I contradict myself.

Artillery as
> an objective could be fun though, so mayhaps I contradict myself.

FoW does this for one reason only - they want to sell lots of
artillery models as well as all the tanks and infantry! ;-)

I know the "logarithmic groundscale" argument used in FoW sits
uncomfortably with a lot of people - I must admit I'm kind of
ambivalent about it myself.

The problem is that I also make a number of cool artillery-type minis
that I also want people to buy.... ;-)

Actually, I think it might have been the old WRG 1950-75 rules (or
"ultramoderns" as they were known when I bought them back in the early
'70s....) which had a rule about marking off a 6" strip at your
baseline table edge, which then represented your "off-table" assets
(artillery, command, reserves, whatever). Anything placed on-table
but in that 6" zone was deemed to be out of reach of "table-range"
weapons, but still valid targets for opposing artillery, airstrikes and so on.

Yes, I always thought it was quite a good way of doing it... for the minis
manufacturer it has the advantage that players have to actually
have physical minis of their off-table assets, rather than just
having them represented on paper or by an "asset card"; it also means
that things like counter-battery fire can be performed on the actual
minis using the same rules as on-table artillery strikes, rather than
being handled in some abstract manner. In some ways it is really not unlike
what FoW achieves with its logarithmic groundscale idea, but it perhaps
requires a slightly smaller "suspension of disbelief" than their system for
the purist gamer.

Sorry to bring Dirtside into it again, but isn't this how it is done in
Dirtside? At least, that's how we always played it.

Just checked the rules... and yes, it's in the Dirtside rules.

It really does sound like you want a Dirtside III, with some extra rules to
make infantry a bit more useful. But then, I'm not a fan of 15mm, so I'm maybe
looking at things through a different lens.

You're probably right, Sam - just shows how long it is since I last

Oh well, that just shows where I pinched the idea from in the first
place! :-)

DS has always been, and will remain, a 6mm (1/300) system that is
primarily armour-centric with infantry being little more than
"crunchies" under the treads. SG was an infantry-centric game with
(maybe) a few supporting AFVs. I suppose what I'm thinking of for SG:AC is
somewhere in the middle, both in terms of figure scale and in how it treats
both infantry and armour units.

Oh, come on, DS can be played in 15! I've done it. You just need an entire
room/floor... :-)

At the office where I work, half the first floor is currently empty. It's
basically one big room designed for use as an open plan office. Every time I
walk past, I can't help thinking that it would make for an awesome location to
hold a massive Full Thrust game. At 1" = 1000km (the scale I use for my
planet templates), you could easily fit in a battle in the Earth-Moon
system.

Unfortunately my suggestions for getting it unlocked for evening gaming
haven't been met with much enthusiasm by those with the keys.

Well, considering that my FLGS has FINALLY embraced 15mm sci-fi and
hasn't quite found a ruleset that will hold their fickle attention (they

were playing TW for a while, but that fell by the wayside), I guess there
might be some interest.
