No but after the recent list discussion I decided to reread Armor and I was
shocked and amazed by the amount of profanity in the book. Every imaginable
obscenity was uttered by these characters who are supposed to be role models
and "defenders of the universe". If it's a universe as filled with obscenities
as that, it's not worth defending.

I did like all the bits where peoples' legs were twisted up around their necks
and their heads were ripped off, though. Yeah, those were quite artistic.

Ok this is my last post on the subject. Your right to offensive language
infringes on my right to not hear it. My choices are a) live with it because
of the person's rudeness. or B) Leave the group which I've been in since the
beginning. If it comes to that I'll leave. What a shame.

Has anyone out there read David Weber and Steve White's Insurrection and
Crusade? More to the point, what are some of your
thoughts on the Theban's samurai sleds and x-ray lasers?

I think people are being a little to judgmental.. obscenities, curse words
what ever you want to call them are a part of our every day lives and if some
one uses them it does not make them a stupid or horrible person... because we
all have different back grounds and different beliefs it's understandable that
we will not all agree about what is good and what is bad.. (for example over
population is bad get rid of some of the people) i know these are radical
views not what people want to hear (some people) as is the word sh*t and F*ck
or and number of other words in my and most intelligent people's vocabulary.
using "colorful language is a part of heritage and culture. Some people grew
up in the sh*t town, and have it f*cking hard and if that's the way they would
like to express them selves then great. if some one doesn't want to hear it
then don't listen..

In this day of the law suite people will get offended by anything... it makes
me sick.. are we all a bunch of babies?

THE POINT I'M TRYING TO MAKE IS DON'T JUMP ON SOMEONE IF THEY HAVE A DIFFERENT
WAY TO EXPRESS THEIR IDEAS.

okay I'll get off my soap box now..

I was shocked and amazed by the amount of people in Armor. Every imaginable
planet was filled by human cities. If it's a universe as filled with
overpopulation as that, it's not worth defending.

If I might make a point.

Could we please kill this thread because various people seem to be getting
rather hot under the collar about it. As it has absolutely nothing to do with
the list I would recommend it stops here. It began with a mistake for which an
apology was forthcoming. Pardon me for stating the obvious.

Anyone who feels the need to discuss the right to free (or any other kind)
speech is quite welcome to. I would only ask that they do so elsewhere. This
is not an issue that should require ANYONE to leave the list. We all have our
own views but it does not take a great effort to keep them to ourselves. If
only to show some respect to everyone else on the list.

We don't need to go the path of other lists with pointless flame wars.

If you agree with killing this thread then there should be no need to respond
to this message.

Thanking you in advance.
