Subject: New ship counters

I've just added some new counters to my FT page at

http://www.kontos.demon.co.uk/ft/newcount/pictures.htm

made from digital photographs of some of my painted miniatures.

Please go using the link above, as no other part of the site links to it. This
is the first part of a major revamp of my site.

In the future, I should hopefully have these formatted for FTmap.

Please fell free to let me know what you think.

Nice work Thomas!

They look slightly retouched. What programs did you use for the various
stages?

Thanks.

The only program I used was Photoshop 4.0.

1- The original image had the background removed (my feet and one leg of
the tripod the camera was on) and a new layer was created for the background
and filled with black. This was then saved as a Photoshop file.

2- The image was then reduced in size to 33 percent and the brightness
and contrast increased slightly.

3- The image was then exported as a GIF.

The equipment used was an Olympus C-400 CAMEDIA which I bought second
hand 2 weeks ago, a tripod, a table, some white paper and the Sun.

This was a first attempt (It was all done yesterday afternoon. Not my ideal
Saturday, but I'm out of money till I get paid on Friday, the camera being
largely responsible for that.) and seems to be a case of first time lucky!

Very Nice results. Can't wait till we see the full FT fleets in this series.

Dark - have you tried using histogram stretching, that can lighten
up some images from photography/scanning. I tried it on the NAC HC image
and it improves the darkness problem.

Scale - it would be useful if they were in scale with each
other.

For something similar - you may incorporate with my blessing on
your page as they only live in a zip file at the moment.

On my Unix system at work is a program called xview. It allows playing around
with contrast, brightness, size, and smoothing. I'm sure there are programs
that do the same on PC's and Mac's without having to use Photoshop.
