Hi Everyone, I've just (re)joined the list after a long-long break.....

I wanted to guage the reaction of people to a new ship designer program,
currently only for Fleet Book I, but I am working on the Fleet Book 2 Version.
This one produces BMP files, very much like those in the fleet book itself.

You will notice that when you add fighters, the cost for the fighters is
already added (as well as the cost for the fighter bay).

you can find it on my website at:

Likewise, re-greetings!

Could you either post to the list or your website a little more info on the
program? I gather it's a straight Windoze executable, so it doesn't require
any other apps? What you used to create it, perhaps? Your level of
virus/worm protection? ;->=

Oh, and HOW big unzipped?!?

Absolutely right Beast.... here you go:

The Program: Win32 app, created using Visual Basic, Icons created Using
Photoshop, Animations created using Lightwave.

AV Software on my machine... Just Plain old Sophos Anti-Virus

Size... well, yes it is a little on the large size, but that's only because I
had a bit of trouble with the animation control in VB, (It wouldn't accept the
first 3 anims I made, so I tried them uncompressed, and they worked.
 If
anyone knows which Codec to use to compress em, tell me and I'll redo it)

Narns bats aren't round, they're rather like cricket bats. Round ones were
tried, but the flat ones have more straightlines...

Can we get a look at the source? I didn't download it, so it may be in there.

Jim, It's messy, undocumented and inefficient (but works), but if you want,
I'll send it to you
you will still need to download it to get the Icons / Animations
otherwise the VB source will crash when you try to run it.

Interesting, and very pretty! It's something I looked at for the new
shipyard program I'm working on (yes, shiptools will soon be obsolete) -
but ended up deciding it was probably too much trouble. I don't have a
Windows box to check - do you generate your own positions for the
systems, or rely on the user to put them where he wants them?

Suggestion: use a home-built ship for your screenshots, rather than
something out of FB1. Minor politeness... :-)

> You will notice that when you add fighters, the cost for the fighters

This is not necessarily the "right" answer in every case. (a) FB2's (and MT's)
variant fighter types; (b) in a campaign game.

I will put a screenshot up of a homemade design, and Variant fighters are
supported.... (see new upcoming screenie)
